Episode 3 Can't kill bandits

I can never seen to kill more than one of the bandits. The PS3 stick movements are awkward, and I can not get past this. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Use the left stick to move out and into cover, and right stick to aim. Wait for them to pop up, then shoot. Always aim for the head. Don't let them get too close to the RV and don't stay out of cover for too long.
