Poker Night at the Inventory - Mac Crash Info

[UPDATE 3-27-2013]
Steam just posted a client update, now running steam client:
Steam API v012, Updated 3-25-2013, Package Version 1364340477 / 1364340477

This has not resolved the issue, so this leaves me to believe it was the Apple/Mac OS-X update from
10.8.2 --> 10.8.3 released March 14th 2013...

Looks like the latest Steam OR maybe OS-X update did in fact do something.

I am experiencing the same exact problem. Happens in the same spot as this post, just after your hand is dealt and the host says, "Tonights steaks will be ten-thousand dollars" within a few milliseconds, BAM closes out with an Apple debug report. However, if you hit SPACEBAR just before that is said, I can cruise around all the goodies, change tables, card deck styles etc, but when clicking back, just as the music is about to kick in BAM.

Versions:
1) Mac OS-X 10.8.3 Updated 3-16-2013
2) Steam API v012, Updated 3-15-2013, Package Version 1363394288 / 13633954288

* Seems to be after Apple OS-X 10.8.3 update or Steam Update
* Ran Steam Cache checker, returned without error
* Completely removed from Steam Library and double checked local file system, all files gone - Then re-downloaded
* Tried all video resolutions including full screen and windowed
* Changed sound output settings system-wide to use external headphones or bluetooth headphones.

Followed by ~370 lines of debug information. I looked for core files to strings against, but not sure how Apple hacked the Darwin kernel to not allow for `core` file dumps but rather some Apple proprietary binary crash log.

I know it's an older game but it's so awesome. My wife and I love to play together, it's a nice stress reliever.

If anyone at TellTale Games wants my output file in full or whatever is needed, I would be more than happy to send along:)

    Every now and again on my Steam version, since I played it a few times I get the cutscene where I would have the chance to get a special item from someone. Yet after ends, crash.

    Just some extra info.

    I'm also experiencing the same issues as mentioned above as well. I've just pre-purchased Poker Night 2 so i've got the 1st one for free. I load the game up, he gets to dealing out the cards and then BHAM, crashed and closed to desktop.

    I'm thinking TellTale focus was to get Poker Night 2 out, which I also pre-purchased(!), but now they can get their dev crew back on Poker Night 1 to see what the problem is...

    Adding my voice to the chorus here...just bought the sequel on Steam last night, and got this game as a bonus. I don't even get to the first deal. Stakes are thrown on the table as the narrator says 10,000 dollars, then the game crashes.

    I just purchased this game and am experiencing the same issue; it boots fine, but as soon as he starts to deal, it crashes... I feel like I just wasted $5. :(

    Mmhmm. Looks like your Mac version isn't running well, Telltale Games. So please do fix. I pre-purchased Poker Night 2, please PLEASE don't let me waste my money. I would demand a refund if nothing is done about this; thats not a threat, its a fact. XD

    Sorry you haven't heard back from TTG Support. I opened a ticket (have a ticket #) 3-26-2013, received a reply from a support rep 4-2-2013 asking a few questions. I did reply the same day, never heard back; resent the reply 4-11-2013, still nothing back.

    My guess is staffing issues and mandates, they may have all hands on deck for the release of Poker 2.

    All that said, Poker 1 was by far the most entertaining poker style game my girl and I have ever played.

    Please TTG, spend some cycles on this.

    If their staff is all working on Poker 2, that better work well.
    There may be less majority working on Mac, but if you don't care about them, just don't release a Mac version. Seriously.
    But then every Mac user will want this great game. Hm. Didn't care in the first place though.

    TTG, thanks and well done on Poker Night 2. Now get back and fix the original please, I did pay for it in the first place, when it first came out.

    Same for me, as a mac user it is one of the most annoying steam failures. until someone from the team notices our poker night dreams are kinda screwed

    Any Word on this? This makes the game unplayable. Work arounds? anything? This game looks very awesome, I just want to play.

    A response from tech support says they can't seem to reproduce the crash. I've got plenty of crash logs to prove otherwise. If the issue is indeed something that Apple did in the 10.8.3 update. You could revert back to 10.8.2 for now.

    I loved Poker Night 2 so I threw down for Poker Night 1. Really disappointed that reliably it crashes on my Retina MBP on clicking "Done" for the rules at the start.

    It does this if I select 1440x900 or 2880x1600.

    According to Beastmaster III on the steam forums, if you do the following: go to username/library/application support/steam/steamapps/common/Poker Night at the Inventory, right click Poker Night app and select Show Package Contents and search through Contents/Resources/Pack, about half of the ttarch files are listed as pc files instead of OSX.

    Hopefully this might mean something.

    I bought the humble bundle package just for this Poker Night 1.

    I go to run it and it crashes after the rules every time. I google it and every single mac user running the latest OSX is having this problem.

    Oh Support? So far the best support post from Telltale has been:

    I actually ran the install through terminal and got a bunch of errors on files claiming they were missing.

    I'm using a mac and having problems playing the game like every other mac user.

    I've seen threads since the day OS X 10.8.3 was released, which was almost 3 months ago. The only reply I've seen from the Telltale support staff has been to contact apple as it's a problem with them. However, it's not their problem, It's your problem. If you refuse to do any updating of your game please for the love of god remove the damn thing from the store. I can't believe I purchased this game and can't even play it.

    If I don't find a fix and still can't find a reasonable answer to any of these support questions posted within the community and other communities within a few days I will ask for a refund and never buy another game from here again.

    Sometimes OS updates are broken. That's not the fault of a developer, that's the fault of the OS. Judging by the amount of people wanting to downgrade due to the update breaking compatibility, that seems to be the case here.

    Poker Night isn't the only program affected, there's lots of affected programs that come up in that Google search. Because of the large amount of programs affected, this is indeed an Apple issue, rather than a Telltale one.

    Just an FYI, the next OS release currently does not fix this issue as I'm currently running the latest beta that was released a few days ago.

    Wondering the same myself. I actually got PN1 through Humble Bundle Weekly specifically for this game and the fact that it supports the Intel Graphics 3000. If what AriGold34 said is accurate, it's kind of a bummer that Telltale can't fix it. I don't know if it's any different, but I'm having the same issue with Stacking on OSX and Double Fine immediately looked into it and are still working on the fix.

    Ironically, I'm thinking all the other games in the TellTale HBW are going to work. I tested out The Walking Dead (success at optimal settings) after Poker Night crashed.

    If it helps any fellow Mac users to get through this, I downloaded Poker Night 2 on a whim since it's $4.99 on Steam. It works just fine, albeit on low rendering.

    I can reproduce the crash. Every. Single. Time. :mad: If they'd like to fly me out, put me up in a nice hotel and feed me for a few days - I'm happy to bring my MBP to Telltale and show them the crash? :rolleyes:

    Seriously, though, I think this issue has been ignored. I picked this up cheap in a Humble Bundle, so I'm never going to get my few cents back. I think the only solution is to add a little mental black-mark against Telltale Games. They're just damn lucky that Walking Dead was so good.

    That's true when it's a major release, such as OS X Lion to Mountain Lion or Windows 7 to 8, but not during a minor release, since they are only supposed to be maintenance or bugfix releases. In fact, 10.8.3 is supposed to improve compatibility, but it's in fact done the opposite. So, it's in Apple's hands to make a bugfix release (like they apparently tried to do from 10.8.2 to 10.8.3).
