KQ NEWS: Heard it from a guy who heard it from a friend...
Stop the presses! We have confirmation. Sort of...
Okay, so maybe this doesn't quite make the cut to be included in the "KQ Timeline" thread, but since we are all desperate for any information about Telltale's KQ, here it is:
From "Monolith" on Adventuregamers.com forum:

Btw, when I wrote the subject to this post I couldn't help but think of these lyrics: http://youtu.be/UgincTSCkYQ
Anyway, all I have left to say here is.... King's Quest will be back!!

I can confirm the KQ status hasn’t changed since its announcement and this is just by straight up asking a friend who works there. Its not a leak, nor is it an announcement. It just isn’t canceled.

The bad news is, if its status hasn't changed since its announcement, that presumably means development hasn't moved forward at all. Still, better late than never.
Also, I actually don't think it would hurt to have on the timeline in my opinion.
Yeah!
We've got to get a little more of a confirmation than this or the "Can't speak about KQ" from Jake Rodkin (a couple weeks back), I think... That could still kind of mean anything, and it's pretty much 3rd party mush -- "It just isn't cancelled" is not necessarily the phrasing of the supposed TT developer source.
I'd put both of these on the timeline, anyway -- maybe if the disinfo gets bad enough TT will feel obliged to make some kind of proper statement
(We've still got a few months before the QFI release, right?)
It can open up some speculation. But its really not the most credible of sourcing!
One of the few times I cited a message forum in the past was when it was a first hand account by someone at least tangentially related to Sierra and KQ, and the telltale project in some way. For, example I linked to a post from real and original Josh Mandel, which he made in a message board, and his opinion of the Telltale staff, based on his own discussions with them on the subject. The only other one I think I linked to, was a post by Paul Trowe (partly unreliable source, based on certain events at Replay) on relation to their attempts to acquire the KQ and other Sierra IPs from ActiVision. Not specifically Telltale related, except maybe indirectly. But interesting in regards to recent KQ development history.
TTG hasn't announced any progress, but they haven't announced cancellation either. And they seem to be reluctant to talk about it. Either they are planning to make some big announcement and don't want to spoil it or The Walking Dead Season 2 is pushing everything else behind it in the release schedule. I fear that latter might be the case. And while I like The Walking Dead, it's new acquaintance while KQ is an old love. Personally I rather would have KQ before TWD2, but there's probably more money in TWD2.
Assuming there is still currently no renegotiated deal between TTG and Activision, I wonder how the Kickstarter events of the last year would affect the hypothetical new negotiations.
You certainly change your opinion fast.
All we have are conflicting rumors and personally I prefer waiting official statement before I abandon all hope.
One thing I will never waver on, though... regardless of whether or not TTG has the license... is this:
King's Quest WILL be back, better than ever!!
