TWD not starting from Steam

Hello,

I recently purchased The Walking Dead from Steam and after attempting to launch it on my Windows 8 pro system nothing happens. I have followed all instructions listed under the FAQ including restart, file verify under steam, running in admin and adjusting compatibility settings as listed
My system hardware is a 2.0 ghz Intel Core Duo, 4gb of ram, Nvidia GeForce 8400 gs GPU with 512mb vram

    Please try unplugging your gamepad or any other non essential external devices.
