OS X Black Screen on Startup

Just downloaded the game. Application launches giving me a perpetual black screen.

Macbook Pro 15 Inch Late 2011
8GB RAM
OS X 10.8.2

    This seems to have resolved itself somehow, however now the mouse cursor from the finder doesn't disappear, and is stuck in the middle of the screen. I can play normally, it's just very distracting.
