Bug or something missing? 204 with Tar and Superball

I don't like using the walk though, but I am stuck here. The walkthough tells you to get Superball's spit first THEN get the tar cake sample. I did it the other way around.

Is there a way I can clear the sample device? I can't seem to use the Star Pillow with it filled with tar.

    You have an unending sample taker... when you take a sample, the clean one as well as the used one should both be in your inventory.

    Taking spit/tar can happen in any order you like, you'll just end up with a few more test tubes in your inventory.
