Mac, black screen on episode 3

Hey, been having what sounds like the same problem a lot of other people have. Try to launch episode 3 and it enters windowed mode, goes black, cursor works and nothing more happens. It worked fine on the first playthrough (this is my second) with one catch: It behaves as if I hadn't finished some earlier episodes and won't start unless I reply yes to "Generate random story". However, from what I can tell based on the "Previously on" segment, as well as the story progression, all my choices carried over. Anyhows, the current problem is the black screen. I'm attaching the support_data file, from what I understand you have some nifty commands for the terminal? I can see four prefs.prop files, which I gather is not optimal. Speedy help much appreciated!

    Your Episode 3 problem is probably caused by
    /Applications/MacGameStore/Games/The Walking Dead/TheWalkingDead.app/Contents/Resources/Pack/WalkingDead103/prefs.prop
    Please try renaming it to prefs.prop.bak to deactivate it.

    Huh. Well. There's a thing. See, I did some looking around before posting and taking the cue from other threads I brought up the terminal and basically moved every version of the prefs.prop all over the place, renaming some or all of them with the .bak suffix. Didn't make any difference. Now I read your advice and thought, well, I'll give it one more shot before saying that it doesn't work. And it worked. I'd ask what your secret is, but if it involves black candles and questionable acts with a chicken in the light of the full moon, I only half want to know. Thanks a lot for the assistance!
