Save files not being recognised

I have completed the game, with a save on a finished episode 5. After the announcement of the upcoming DLC I wanted to make sure that the save was still there (as the choices you made are supposedly going to affect the new episode) and the game refuses to recognise that it is. I believe I also had another save or two that I used to see the other choices, although they don't matter as much.

I really won't have the time, nor do I want to play through all episodes again.

I've attached the support tool results. I'd really really appreciate some help with this, thanks for the taking the time to read this.

This doesn't look right. The savegame folder doesn't seem to exist at all. At least not at the standard location.

Are you running the game in any kind of compatibility mode?

Nope. Running it off Steam, with no compatibility settings enabled.

And the save files are definitely there, under documents as they're supposed to be, right?

I can't tell for sure by the screenshots if the entire path is the correct one, since you opened the document library, which behaves different than normal folders.

Let's try it another way. Please try to open these paths in the explorer, by copying them into the address bar, and tell me which one exists.
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
    %PUBLIC%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead

Sorry about that, here you are. So it's under Public.

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead

Alright. That does explain why the support tool couldn't find it, but normally that location is only used when the game runs in win98/me compatibility mode.

    I still don't understand why
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
doesn't exist on your system, because that normally gets created the first time the game starts, and since you started the game to see if your saves are there it should exist.

Anyway, please try copying the "The Walking Dead" folder from
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Telltale Games\
    to
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\
and test if the game recognizes your saves.

If that doesn't work, you can try running the game in win98/me compatibility mode.

    Well this is weird.

So I copied the folder to the correct location and upon launching the game it has given me a random save with episode 1 completed...

And trying to run it in compatibility mode just makes it crash at launch I'm afraid.

Something is very weird with your savegames, and I don't know what could have happened to them.
If you only see one slot with an episode 1 game then you can't access all the .save files, because they need the proper prefs.prop.

If you don't have a backup somewhere there's only little hope.
You can try the "restore previous version" feature (right click, "properties", "restore previous version") on the prefs.prop in
    %PUBLIC%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
If there are any earlier versions, try finding the one that matches the latest date of all your .saves file as close as possible, and restore it.

    Then copy that prefs.prop to
    %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead

Doesn't seem to be any previous versions.. :/

I'll just play from episode 2. Thanks for trying, you saved me around 2 hours anyway. I'm sure I can just marathon the rest tomorrow. Much appreciated!
