Black Screen Issue

I decided I want to actually finish The Walking Dead since the new DLC is coming out. I bought this game in December, but haven't actually played it since February, until yesterday. I tried to continue to play one of my saves, but a screen popped up that said "Rewinding will delete any progress made after this point, but retain progress made up to this point. Do you want to rewind to this checkpoint?" Whether I press yes or no, the screen stays black, but I can move my mouse around. I tried deleting both of the saves I had, and then decided to play a new game. I could play episode 1 just fine yesterday, but when I tried to play episode 2 today, the same issue appeared. I have no idea what to do.

I attached the support file that's requested, so I hope that can help figure out what's wrong. I really just want to play the game.

The support tool was unable to read out where you installed the game, which means i don't have enough information to give you detailed instructions.

Please search the install folder and all of its subfolders for a file named prefs.prop. If you find it, please rename it to prefs.prop.bak to deactivate it.

Did that, tried to do the game again but got the same issue, and the folder just made another prefs.prop file after. Should I rename that file prefs.prop.bak too, run the support tool again, and reupload another zip file?

Please post the entire path of the folder where the prefs.prop you renamed is located.

Path of the folder? Sorry if I sound stupid, but does that mean I should upload the prefs.prop.bak file or the folder? Or something else?

I was asking for the location of the file you changed. That's something like
    C:\foldername1\foldername2\

The path of the folder is just
    C:\Users\ashley\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead

Oh, that's the savegame folder, not the install folder.
It's important to keep the prefs.prop there.

Let's first undo the renaming. Please remove the new prefs.prop it created, and rename prefs.prop.bak back to prefs.prop.

    Now to the actual issue.
To make this easier i've attached a little new tool that will search for prefs.prop files and the install folder on the entire c: drive.

Please download the "searchtool.zip" and run the "searchtool.bat".
It will create a file named "results.txt". Please attach that file.

    Here's the results.

Odd, it doesn't show all it should.
Did you let it run until the window closed itself before uploading the results.txt?
    If not, please try again.

I did let it run all the way through, and that's what showed up. I tried running it as administrator, and no results text showed up. Then I tried just clicking it, and the results showed up, but it was the same thing.

I tried to run the support tool again though after a system restore for other issues, and this time, it gave the install location, I think. Since you said last time it didn't give the install location, maybe this will help?
    Attached the new zip.

    Attached the new zip.

    That's awesome.

    Please rename the prefs.prop in
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\default
    to prefs.prop.bak to deactivate it.

Then try if you can continue the game.
