Rule violation in Poker

At one point in the came Sam says 'I call' and then says something about adding stuff and raises the bet.

This is illegal in poker. Once you say you call, you can only call, you can not raise. Note that it is okay (in most places) to say 'I'll see your bet and raise it', because you didn't say 'call'.

    That's true, but I don't think it really matters in this sort of game, especially if it's for the sake of a gag.

    By the way, "I'll see your bet and raise it" is an illegal string raise in most places, because "see" means "call". It's announcing your intention that matters, not saying the magic word "call".
