Remembering Guybrush Thriftweed
Though many were close to Guybrush, not many were willing to shell out the doubloons to put on a proper wake for our dear departed friend. We at Telltale had started a fund for building a life-size Screaming Narwhal in the bay and sailing into the sunset, but after much peer pressure and shady dealings, we had to empty the coffers and host the funeral ourselves.
The Narwhal will just have to wait.
Wednesday December 2nd in San Francisco, Telltale hosted Guybrush’s very own pirate wake complete with remembrance wristbands, photos of his proudest moments, and a demo of Guybrush’s first tottering steps in the afterlife as seen in the upcoming final chapter of Tales of Monkey Island. Many were invited to pay respects but most of his friends refused to show up, claiming this was just another trick of his. So we invited the next best thing: the press. Some words were spoken in eulogy, along with an enlightening and tear jerking story from a man who was very close to Guybrush, Dave Grossman.
We were pleased to see many fine pirate sympathizers joined us in sipping Grogatinis and remembering the late, departed, moved-on, ceased to be, EX-Guybrush Threepwood. Take a look at their experiences right here:
Our condolences to all who are affected by his passing.
Rest in peace, Guybrush.
...Or will he?
