The End and Beginning of Back to the Future Parts I and II Compared
With our Back to the Future game coming soon, I've been watching and re watching the films. Back to the Future Parts I and II, share a very important scene where Doc Brown arrives to take Marty to 2015 and he discovers that his parents are now a happy couple with Biff as their lackey (due to him altering the timeline in 1955). What you may not have known is just how close the two versions of the scene are, even though they were filmed years apart.
In the video above (brought to my attention by the official Back to the Future series Facebook page), the scenes from the end of Back to the Future Part I and the beginning of Back to the Future Part II are played concurrently, making the slightest differences more apparent. Even with those differences, it's amazing to see just how close the filmmakers got to recreating the extremely recognizable scene.
[readmore]EDIT: Twitter user bdorfman pointed out that I didn't mention the biggest difference of them all - the different actresses that portray Marty's girlfriend Jennifer Parker, Claudia Wells in Part I and Elisabeth Shue in Parts II and III. Oops.
It's interesting to note the small differences like the exact way Marty's shirt is untucked, the finish on the BMW behind him in the driveway, or the small dialogue timing discrepancies. Continuity, even when contained in a single film, has always interested me and the fact that some movies can't get it as close as Back to the Future Parts I and II makes this accomplishment all the more impressive.
Are there any scenes from the Back to the Future films that you'd want to see remade? Perhaps in a video game?
