Jurassic Park, the groundbreaking Steven Spielberg film series has long been a franchise that our team at Telltale wanted to tackle. As a property Jurassic Park is a story of survival and interpersonal relationships under extreme circumstance, something that traditional game genres simply are not built to address authentically.

Our designers truly pushed our traditional design boundaries further than ever before to create a game to focus the experience on this story of survival. With a design laser focused to follow the franchise tenants like no other film based game has ever done it’s a format we’ve labeled as a cinematic adventure.  A design built not for the hardcore gamer but rather for the hardcore Jurassic Park fan, one that has always dreamed of spending some time on Isla Nublar. The final product has been polarizing with traditional game critics, but one thing that just about everyone can agree on is Jurassic Park: The Game delivers on our original vision - an authentic and cinematic Jurassic Park experience.

Below, is a selection of excerpts from various Jurassic Park: The Game reviews that showcase our efforts to make the game something the most passionate Jurassic Park fans would delight in:

PlayStation Universe:

“.. a very enjoyable experience that doesn’t require an intimate knowledge of the franchise, but rewards those that do.”

“A cinematic adventure game that successfully marries a Jurassic Park story in both name and style to enjoyable mechanics. Life found a way”

Ripten:

“From the first notes of John Williams' epic score, you're drawn into the world of Jurassic Park.”

“you'll find yourself in various locales from the film, such as the visitor center. These are faithfully recreated, and help really draw the player into the experience.”

“The story and characters really shine, and keep you wanting more throughout the experience.”

Gamespot:

"It captures the film's atmosphere and excitement effectively, making it a worthwhile journey for those eager to see dinosaurs up close again."

Official Xbox Magazine:

"We couldn’t help but enjoy being back on Isla Nublar, seeing familiar sights and hearing the dinosaurs’ classic shrieks and roars."

Strategy Informer:

"Jurassic Park: The Game gets the license utterly perfect, offering a thrilling rollercoaster ride (sometimes literally) of dinosaurs, tension and action, but still wise enough to slow down, let you and the characters catch their collective breath, and unwind with a simple puzzle or two."

Touch Arcade:

"the coolest thing about the game is how hard the world hits you in the jaw. It is the place you remember from the movie, right down to the signs, Jeeps, and specific audio."

GamePro:

"the script, characters, and pacing are everything I could hope for from a Jurassic Park follow-up"

The Washington Times:

"Fans of the movies will love the faithful re-creation of the Jurassic Park world."

Jurassic Park Legacy:

"The attention to detail proves that you can still make entertaining stories from the JP franchise and that most of all the fans will enjoy it as long as the writing and the attention to detail are there."

Gamecritics:

"With Jurassic Park: The Game, Telltale Games has done nothing less than perfect a framework for the future of the cinematic adventure game."

"it is unmatched in its ability to draw players into the story, and carry them along right through to the thrilling end...the dream of an engrossing playable film is finally a reality."

"Set during the events of the film, Jurassic Park tells the side-story of a wide variety of characters as they struggle to escape the island and retrieve the canister full of dino embryos that actor Wayne Knight died trying to steal in the movie. It does this by running the player through a series of exploration, dialogue, and action sequences, all perfectly arranged to create the pace and tone of a Hollywood action film."

"Jurassic Park's characters are likable and interesting, and good writing is enlivened by fantastic voice acting across the board."

Gamer Theory Media:

"Telltale does a great job of pacing the storyline and keeping a good amount of tension throughout the adventure. Fans of the Jurassic Park franchise are definitely going to be happy with the story here."

"The story and presentation are simply the best we've ever seen in a Jurassic Park video game"

"for the first time, a game worthy of the [Jurassic Park] name is finally here"

Cinema Blend:

"The one last frantic dinosaur encounter really captured the magic of the movie."

Joystick Division:

"Telltale Games has a knack for adapting blockbuster movies. Beautifully, it brought Doc and Marty back to pop culture, offering an original story coupled with fun point-and-click puzzles. Can the same idea work more than once for Telltale Games? Definitely."

AnandTech:

"As a canonical companion to the original film, Jurassic Park largely succeeds."

gamrReview:

"it absolutely nails that distinct feel of the movies it is based on."

Save and Quit:

"The references to the events of the film, the familiar locations, the familiar dinosaurs, and the tips of the hat to some of the most memorable lines from the original movie are all there, and they’re great."

Alternative Magazine Online:

“the characters are well-written and carefully developed. You grow to genuinely care about each of them and their struggle to escape the island is truly engaging.…

“.. to claim that Telltale Games have done anything less than exemplary work with the Jurassic Park license would feel like an outright lie.”

“You can tell that Telltale are huge fans of the films by simply pausing to soak in the little details. The soundtrack by Jared Emerson-Johnson intersects beautifully with the original score. Minor mistakes from the original film have also been addressed, such as the live-link to the dock having a video status bar underneath….undoubtedly the best Jurassic Park game ever made”
