Steam release, crash at startup

So, pre-ordered the game this week b/c well I love the walking dead series.
However, it crashes on startup every time. I deleted it and reinstalled. Same thing.

Im using a ASUS g750J laptop with 24gigs of ram instead of 8. Other than that its the same setup.
Anyone have a solution to this? Am i missing something?

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand after I posted this I tried it ONE more time and of course, it started. Weird.

    EDIT

    The reason it crashed was that my xbox360 controller was on when i started the game. Thought it would work with it, but it didnt. WOrks great without it.

    This is an issue with Windows 8 that is resolved in Windows 8.1. Once this Windows update is available, if you upgrade to 8.1 you should have no more issues playing the game with an Xbox controller plugged in.
