Choices Not carrying over between episodes 1 & 2

Enjoyed episode 1, but now a frustrating situation with trying to move to episode 2. Support info zip file uploaded here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ouvuhc

I played through episode 1 in my very first game. I didnt pause or shutdown early. I played straight through, watched the credits, then immediately tried to play episode 2. However, I had saved Carley in episode 1, but now Doug is still alive. :( Seems not all my choices made it successfully to episode 2. They've shown her as alive in the episode 2 "preview", but once episode 2 starts, she's dead and Doug is alive and sleeping.

After looking over the forums for help, I looked for my props.pref files and did not see an extra one. I only had the one save file and it seemed to all be in the correct places. shrug

I also disabled Steam Cloud sync, but that didnt do anything either.

I rewound several times and tried to re-play the last scene to end episode 1, but no change. I also tried backing up one scene farther... nothing changed.

Eventually, I just decided to create a new save file and re-run the entire first episode. Unfortunately, after playing straight through again, I've still got the exact same problem - not all my choices seem to have crossed episodes. Doug is alive, Carley is not.

Any help?

This might be a bit more difficult, because you started a new game afterwards.

You do have an extra prefs.prop in
    E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\default
please try renaming it to prefs.prop.bak to deactivate it.

If that doesn't get you the result you want, rename the prefs.prop in
    C:\Users\marshal\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
    to prefs.prop.orig

    then move the prefs.prop.bak from
    E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\default
    to
    C:\Users\marshal\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
and rename it to prefs.prop to activate it.

  • Thanks, guess I missed that other file when I looked the first time. I didnt check though after I ran the second game.

    Anyway, all fixed. Thanks :)

The first rename didnt fix it, but the second move resolved it.
