Get Jared involved with Video Games Live

edited June 2008 in General Chat
For those that don't know what Video Games Live is, it is a concert where an orchastra and musicians play themes from a wide range of video game titles. Here are some examples.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cp6cVT_1kfc - This clip is from the LucasArts medly section of the concert (featuring Outlaw, Grim Fandango, and Monkey Island).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVHGy9XEF9I - This clip is from their opening number which features symphonic orchastrations of 8-bit "music," if you can call the sound that Pong makes music, that is. It gets rather enjoyable to watch towards the end.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4804aY2JAWI - Performed at Yale, they took advantage of the organ in Woolsey Hall to perform a Castlevania medly.

I think Jared should get involved with this concert. I mean, his contributions to the Bone series as well as Sam & Max show he has a very vast range of musical talent. It would be a real treat to hear some of his work in a fully stocked symphonic setting.

I'd personally rather hear World of Max (I think that's the title)

It's one thing to have a fan of the program suggest an musician to the orginizers. It's another thing to have the actual musician come up to the orginizers and say they are interested.

I don't doubt that Jared knows about VGL, since he is a composer for video games. I just think using VGL's suggestion forum is a cry falling on deaf ears, which is thankfully not the case with TTG from my experiance with your forum since I first joined.

Yeah... and having that one as a huge big-band dance number (like "Anything Goes")... yeah!

That's a good idea. I went to VGL this year and it was great! A Sam and Max song could really make it better.

I couldn't afford tickets when they were in town, but they were playing at the Rhyman (sp?), which is like the Holy Land for any serious musician. I can only imagine how Tommy Tellarico must have felt hosting the event there.

I saw Video Games Live at GDC 2007 and was pretty underwhelmed, to be honest. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it seemed fairly cheesy to me. Before anyone jumps in here, when I say it seemed fairly cheesy, I mean even cheesier than I expected a live video game concert hosted by Tommy Tallarico to be. I'm glad that they do the shows, because it's great to get game music performed live in the US, but I was definitely whelmed.

They do have their cheese moments. I saw a video of what is essentially a cosplay fashion show for the Final Fantasy section of the concert. Ugh...

I had forgotten how good Outlaws's soundtrack is.

This is a pretty good piece with some art from the game too:

Hmph, I wish the cutscenes from Outlaws were uploaded somewhere. There's only one Outlaws cutscene in Youtube. :(

Would really like to watch the story again.

    EDIT:
Scrap that, this guy has them all!
