Moai Better Blues - can't click the conch on the gold portal

I'm at the end of MoBB, and I've done the batang water and the max clam, but when I go to get max annointed by the feet, I try to have sam put the conch on the gold portal (like it says in the walk-through) but no music happens, no toes tap, etc. what am i doing wrong???

    If you still need help, just let me say, I had the same problem. Make sure, that the silver portal (connected to the gold portal of course) is next to her ear.
