OS X Autosave Freeze Glitch

Hey, I bought The Walking Dead a few weeks ago and have encountered a very annoying bug where the game freezes for around 20 seconds every time the game reaches a checkpoint and tries to save.

Here's a link to a video showing the problem

I've found that some people have experienced this issue in the past but apparently it was fixed in a patch. I've checked and I only ever get the freeze when I'm connected to the internet, but I would rather not play disconnected as then I would miss out on achievements etc.
I'm running the game on Mac OS X Mavericks, I'm using a 2013 MacBook Air, and bought the game on Steam.
I hope there's some way to fix this glitch, as it kind of ruins the atmosphere when I'm playing and suddenly have to sit through a 20 second freeze! Maybe there's some way I can install the patch that fixed the issue?
Thanks for your time!

You should try verifying you game cache first to insure you have all updates. If the problem persists, people have found that disconnecting the network cable during the game will eliminate the issue. You will be able to re-synch with Steam by re-connecting the cable before quitting out of the game.

  • Yeah verifying the game cache didn't fix the problem. Guess I'll have to just turn off my wi-fi to play until it gets patched...

  • And I just tried it and there is no way I can turn off my wi-fi connection whilst in-game as you can't alt-tab out of the game to change system settings, and I can't simply turn off my router as I'm on a university network. Looks like I won't be able to play the game then...

If command + tab doesn't work, putting the game into windowed mode (command + f, or game graphics menu) should let you access the system settings.

  • Oh yeah, duh, didn't think of that. Thank you! :) (seems that achievements still save even when I stay offline throughout after booting the game.)
