Choppy performance

Hello, thanks for wonderful game design, I really love the style, lighting and everything. But my problem is that whatever setting I use (resolution/texture quality, etc), I have pretty good FPS, but now and than I have frame freeze for a few frames, so lowering quality doesn't help, it just happens every 30 seconds or so (look like loading or something like that). Especially on outside scenes. Can you confirm that this is engine specific issue or can I fix it somehow? Thanks

My system is Macbook Pro 2.53 Intel core 2 duo, 8 Gb ram, Nvidia 9400 M, Mac os X 10.6.8
