Savegames are gone (Mac, Steam)
I've got the Mac Steam version of The Walking Dead and I just wanted to resume Episode 5, but all my save games seem to be gone. At least the game doesn't find them.
And I used the support tool of course... http://www.sendspace.com/file/2ewcem

It doesn't look good. The prefs.prop must have gotten corrupted and replaced. It is essential for accessing the savegames though.
I don't see any duplicates of it either, so unless you have a backup of some sort I don't know a way of recovering your progress.
Thank you for your answer. My intention was to play Season 1 again before release of Season 2, because decisions of S1 will most probably have influence in S2, right? Any way to prevent this corruption of prefs.prop in the future? Or is there a way to "generate" savegames with all relevant decisions without having to play it through again?
Not sure but I may still have a backup of my Windows prefs.prop... but I guess it's not compatible, right?
Yes, season 1 decisions will influence season 2.
Sadly there is no savegame generator.
The prefs.prop needs to be from the same playthrough in order to work. If you have the entire windows savegame folder you can copy the prefs.prop and all .save files to your Mac. You need to disable steam cloud for TWD first (In Steam, right click TWD and select "properties". Open the tab "updates" and remove the checkbox from "Enable Steam cloud synchronization for TWD), because otherwise your savegames will be overwritten with the broken ones.
For season 1 there's no way of preventing this. If the game crashes while writing to the prefs.prop, the prefs.prop will break. It's best to prevent crashes in the first place if possible, but I don't know what to do about it on a Mac other than making sure the game files are not corrupted and it meets the system requirements. It's a good idea to make a backup of the savegame folder every now and then.
Season 2 is supposed to have a more robust savegame system.
