Unable to launch WD (Black screen then crash)

Hi there,

For the last day or so I have been trying to install and run The Walking Dead. I installed from Steam and first time it launched the game.

Didn't play long as was late so thought I'd play today. Whenever game is launched, the screen goes blank then get message saying "WalkingDead101.exe" has stopped working windows is checking for a solution.

I have windows 7, around 10GB free space. and everything I have done has passed. Checks I have done include

Run As Administrator
Re-Install (3 times)
Verified install through Steam
Ran the Compatibility Check, it tried to run in XP mode but came back with message "Could not load game data! Make sure you are running the application from the directory it was installed"
Re-Installed DirectX as recommended.

I am all out of options. Please advise how to resolve issue

    Please check the properties of the Steam.exe, your Steam icons, and the games .exe files, and disable any compatibility mode settings.
    Sometimes compatibility mode is checked, but is grayed out. Then you have to click on "Change settings for all users" at the bottom to disable the checkbox.
    Afterwards try if the game works.

    If you made absolutely sure, that the method mentioned above didn't work to disable it, you can try disabling it in the registry. Then restart the computer and try running the game again.

    If it still crashes, please follow the instructions to run the TWD Support Tool and post the download link to the resulting "TWD_support_data_pc.zip" or "TWD_support_data_mac.zip" to your next reply in this thread.
