Issues with the game not saving and not reading my previous save file
I've had very minor issues with the game when it first came out. The only issue I had a while back was upon release of Episode 4 in Season 1 where it lost all my save progress for that episode only and I needed to replay that episode. Since then, I've had no issues aside from the usual framerate lags.
I triple check most times and verify in my hard drive that my save file is still existing. 400 Days was no issue getting through either. I acquired Season 2 upon release date and went through that with no problems at all (I think it may have misread my save file because when it was rolling through flashbacks, there were some choices I don't remember making) and was able to complete it.
However, now I'm letting my BF try out the game under my profile. I figured it wouldn't be an issue because you can have up to 3 save slots. Note, it's been about over a year since I played Season 1, whenever Episode 5 came out was when I last played it. I didn't think longevity would have a role. But anyway, I watched him start the game up and noticed it didn't prompt where to save the game or which save slot he'd like to use (if it's ever asked that? I can't recall). Thought it was weird, but let him play anyway. He got up to trying to kill the zombie with the hammer, where you meet Clementine, and died. Instead of restarting from the last autosave, it took him back to the MAIN MENU. We chose Play Game from here and THEN it showed the save slots, all saying New Game. Not only was his progress not saved, but my previous save file was gone.
I had him try again just last night, and the same issue occurred. He went through the intro about 3 times when I eventually noticed the game wasn't autosaving at all. I checked my hard drive and once again, my save file was still appearing there.
At the moment, I moved my save file to the cloud, deleted everything Walking Dead Season 1 on my hard drive, cleared system cache, and am now redownloading only Episode 1. I would like to know if there is anything else I should be attempting, such as a possible hard drive wipe, trying it from the cloud or external flashdrive, disabling the cloud, or buying the disc version (as I only have owned the digital version). I love the series, game and TV show, and I would love to get other people into it as well but I'm feeling like it's a lost cause.

We are currently looking into an issue where the game is not saving for a small number of Xbox users. We have had several different users say that they have been able to workaround this by doing the following; turning on the Xbox and before starting the game either signing out of their Xbox Live account, or unplugging their Ethernet cord from their Xbox, then starting the game, and on the Main Menu, signing back on to their account or plugging the cord back in. This will then prompt you to sign into an account, and select a storage device. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes, and if the workaround for the issue doesn't work, please note that we are still looking into the issue, and hope to have it fixed in the near future.
Dear TelltaleMike
I can confirm i am still experiencing the issue whereby i cannot save the game. I have 3 xbox's and have the issue on all of them using my profile. I cannot get it to bring up the select storage option. I do see if i quit back to the menu and try a new game the select new game slot but regardless of which slot it doesnt save and doesnt ask me what storage device to use. If i sign out it takes me back to the main menu. When i log back in again i have to pick new game and do not get prompted for the storage device.
I apologize for the inconvenience. Please note that we are still looking into this issue, and hope to have more information on the issue in the near future. At this time there is a workaround. You will have to be logged into your account, and for the time being, you will have to choose which Xbox you would like to play the game on. Then follow the below steps to transferring the game's license to that particular Xbox:
To do this please follow the steps in this thread on how to transfer licenses to a new console:
http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/f/27/t/46093.aspx#newconsoles
Please make sure to read the steps under the 'License Transfers - New Consoles' section.
Please also make sure that you are playing the full game, and you are not playing the game in demo/trial mode. You can do this by going to the Xbox Marketplace and going to the game's page and make sure that you are downloading the full game and not the demo/trial version.
