Lost saved games half-way through episode 5

Mac 10.9.1 running Steam version. I've just started TWD after a week or two of not playing, and it's lost my settings/saved games. I tried restoring the Library/Application Support/Telltale Games folder from a backup from the 12th Jan, but no dice. Can I get these saved games back?

    Note: I had steam cloudsync on (didn't know it should be turned off), but switched it off, restored from backup and tried again. Still no dice.

    OK, I discovered through experimentation that renaming ~/Library/Application Support/Telltale Games/TheWalkingDead to Resources (in the same directory) brought my saved games back. (Discovered because when starting the game was creating a Resources folder with prefs.prop in there).
