Crash at launch, saves gone

I've been playing TWD this last week. I just about to finish EP 3 and tried to open the game today. It wouldn't launch and I had to force quit it a couple times. I restarted Steam and then it came up. However, when it did it no longer recognized the save game slot I had. All now show New Game. I searched the internet and found out about saving your prefs.prop and I noticed I have a folder of all my old data:

prefs.prop and save_1.save through save_39.save are all located in the folder. So I thought ok, I will delete this data, restart the game and when an auto save appears I will quit and copy my fils over the new files. This did not work. No change (just empty save slots).

So I searched a little more and found out you may need to add prefs.prop to your /Users/YOURNAME/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/the walking dead/TheWalkingDead.app/Contents/Resources/Pack/default/ folder. However, after copying it I still have no change.

What could possibly be going on? What can I do? If I have to start over I'll prob just delete the game and never by any more tell tale crap again because what's the point when you get half way through only to have to start over again????

    Please make sure that you only have one prefs.prop file in your TheWalkingDead folder. If you have multiple, please backup all of the prefs.prop files in a folder on your desktop, and make sure that you are copying over the file with the most recent time stamp on it. Once you have only the most recent prefs.prop file in your file directory, please restart the game and see if your saves are there.
