to prefs.prop.bak to disable it, then restart the game, and your saves should be restored.

C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead
to a folder on your desktop, and rename it to prefs.prop.bak to disable it, then take the prefs.prop file you previously renamed to .bak, and move it into the above save file location, and see if you are then able to continue your saves.
Hello, I think I have a similar issue to some of those described above. I tried to play the game and I can see the cursor and voice options but none of the background graffics.
After looking over your Support Tool information, it seems that your computer is running below the minimum system requirements to run the game successfully. Where we require a minimum of 512mb of dedicated memory, your computer is currently running at 144mb of dedicated memory. Your computer uses an integrated Intel graphics card, which we do not recommend using for our game, as they tend to run under minimum specs. I recommend either trying to update your current graphics card's drivers to the latest version, and see if you are able to play, or try playing the game on a computer above minimum system requirements if you have the ability to.
You can also try changing the game's resolution and graphics settings to a lower setting, and then continue the episode, and see if your issue is resolved.

2) Restart your system
3) Unplug your gamepad (and all other USB devices other than keyboard/mouse) and plug in headphones to the audio out jack.
6) Run the game in compatibility mode (right click on game’s icon, click properties, click compatibility tab , and we recommend running the game in Windows 98/ME ) (We recommend Windows 98/ME)
7) Reinstall the game
8) Make sure that the Steam application is not set to a compatibility mode (right click on steam and click properties, then check compatibility, and make sure that it is not checked to play in a different OS)

I'm not sure if this is open, but I might as well try. My computer completely crashed. Some files were saved including my saves from Walking Dead. I ended up re-downloading the game and when I went to start it blank screen. I looked on this forum a bit and unistalled both copies in case it was causing any issues and reinstalled it again. Still blank screen. I've gone through the files and i can't find the prefs.prop.bak. I got the download from the site and not steam if that helps at all.

I moved the saves back to where they should be however my game is still black screen when I open it. I maybe should clarify that I never get to the menu it's just a black screen when I open.

Then try switching back to Full Screen Mode by using the same shortcut, and your issue should then be resolved.

If you are still unable, I recommend uninstalling, and reinstalling the game.

If you are experiencing a black screen on Mac OSX 10.10 or higher when starting Season One, please try the workaround suggested by another player using Mac OS 10 Yosemite, below:
1) In System Preferences, select Displays, then select Scaled - More Space to change the screen resolution to very detailed.
2) In System Preferences, select Dock, then deselect 'Automatically hide and show the dock', to be able to click on the bottom of the screen.
3) Start up the game and run it in windowed mode using the Mac shortcut (Command + F).
4) You should now be able to see the main menu now and change the screen resolution to one that fits the window.

I am having a similar problem to many here, playing TWD Season 1 (bought and downloaded from Steam). I played through the entire game and then in anticipation for Season 2 went back to review what I had done and Episode 5 had no stats listed for it. When I tried to replay the episode my screen went black and will not allow me to play. I tried putting it into windowed mode already as I saw that as a potential solution but it did me no good. I ended up finding my old saves in the documents of my old files that is currently located on my desktop

I can't hear any sounds and when I attempted Windowed Mode there still was a black/blank screen
