  • If you put it that way.... I guess there's a first time for everything.

  • That counts as information, it's just not what you expect to hear. Ironically, not getting what you expect is probably what's keeping your anticipation from dwindling. Also, I think some other people just want their whining validated so they can feel justified in doing so. Fortunately the staff at TTG is smarter than that, and knows that giving in to loudmouths will only make them louder, not quieter.

I love the games and i am not talking about their quality, my problem is the communication. Its been more than 2 months yet we have no information about ep3, except that it is less than a mile away.

  • That's a dubious theory if there ever was one. More likely he just wants an excuse to "polish his little sword'".

No, it's not information. It's words. Words that convey absolutely no information whatsoever.

Your rabid fanboyism is fairly silly. When they promise information "sooner than you think" and not only does the time we "think" there would be information by come and go, but the date that most people were estimating for release comes and goes without any information then people have a legitimate grievance.

I'm not really on board with crying at them for taking their time between releases, frankly I'd rather get a game they took time and care over later than one that was rushed and botched sooner. I support companies that take a "ready when it's ready" policy and actually put effort into their product. But the total lack of information grates. And when they do tell us things it often seems like the expectations of telltale and the expectations of the community are radically different. And maybe justifiably so, the community don't understand what goes into making a game like this for the most part and Telltale may not be taking into account that for us it's just a wait. There is no visible progress we're just waiting and waiting for what is a continuous storyline to be slowly released. So for them it may not seem as big a deal as it does for us.

That being said, the onus of understanding should be with Telltale. At the end of the day, we gave them our money in return for their product which is not meeting our schedule expectations. Now, that doesn't mean they should have to hurry anything or release early, it just means they should try to understand what the community feels and communicate better with us. I think all most people here are asking for is information. We want to know what's up and some idea of whether it's close to coming or not. Not some vague "just around the corner a mile away" that doesn't really tell us anything.

"Words that convey absolutely no information whatsoever." How is that even possible? "Rabid fanboyism"? Nice strawman-ad hominem combo there.

The date that most people were estimating depends on the person; nothing was set in stone by TTG, so how can TTG be blamed for something forum users invent based on a 4-6 week estimate which applies to all their games? "Total lack of information" is just willed ignorance. Many tweets disprove that easily. I'm also quite sure that TTG knows it's just a wait for us, clearly due to posts like yours. Again, "no visible progress" is more willed ignorance.

Why should TTG state explicitly how they make a game up to its release for each episode? That's not their job. And "our schedule expectations" are not a concensus, so don't pretend it is. TTG knows what we feel just by reading our posts, though I admit there's no tone in plain text, but some people get around that pretty well. Anyway, TTG has stated that they sometimes don't know up until the date before release that they can release something, so you seem to be assuming they know exactly what you want to know, even though that isn't necessarily true. Of course people would like a set date, but things don't always work out well enough to be able to make that kind of assurance. In the words of Carley, "Get the fuck over it."

    1. It's possible in the same way as If I said "cheese dog shark potato". This combination of words has no meaning. Saying "it's a mile away" doesn't tell us anything. A mile away from what? Did they have to physically ship the data from one place to another? And if it's taken this long to move it a mile they need to get a different courier. A mile is not a measure of time, to say it's a mile away doesn't communicate anything. Is that soon? If so, what is the definition of soon we're using here, since obviously TTG thinks "soon" encompasses a much larger period of time than many people do.

    2. It's sort of an ad hominem but not a strawman. Don't use words you don't understand. "Sort of" because I wasn't using it to try and counter any point you made so it wasn't an ad hominem proper. It was just a statement. Your rabid fanboyism is indeed silly.

    3. They can be blamed for telling us there will be news sooner than we think and then not delivering. They can be blamed for knowing the general community estimate and not doing anything to correct it. If they don't know then that right there is lack of communication. "No visible progress" is not willed ignorance. By this point I suspect you've completely missed the entire point of my post. Tell me, how much progress have TTG made on the story, bug fixing, polishing and such of the game in the past 2 weeks? What stage are they on right now, what are they doing? You aren't on the development team so I doubt you know. There is no visible day by day progress for us. The point of that wasn't anything about them, it wasn't that they should inform us of every bug they fix, it was about why people are impatient - at the moment, all we are doing is waiting. I doubt it feels quite the same when you're actively working on making the thing.

    4. Again you've missed the actual point, see the last point.

    5. No, I won't "get over it", there's nothing for me to get over. I'm sitting here waiting patiently for the next episode. You're assuming things due to your rabid fanboyism. Me saying that people have a legitimate complaint when telltale tell them there will be news sooner than they think, then not remotely delivering that news doesn't correlate to me being butthurt about anything.

I don't know how you could claim not to be a fanboy when you're arguing so vehemently against the notion that telltale should try to understand how the average consumer is feeling and it might be nice to get some kind of substantial information now and again (and that by teasing substantial news and not delivering, no-one ends up happy). I haven't proposed anything radical here, you're just on the defensive because you perceive telltale being attacked.

  • I have a feeling it would erupt into a humongous argument over whether Ben Paul was a useless character or not.

Party island for those that are ill with the Telltale syndrome! Board games and happy gas for everyone!

  • I'm not defending TTG, I'm pointing out how your complaints don't make sense to me. Based upon that, I'm neither a "fanboy" (which misrepresents where I'm coming from) nor a rabid fanboy. Also, "cheese dog shark potato" has no meaning to either of us, but that's not what I was talking about. Words with no meaning are still forms of information. In your example, the information is that it has no meaning.

If there was nothing for you to get over, then why bother complaining and pointing how what you think about TTG's supposed lack of response? Seems like there's something to get over if you keep trying to make the point.

Maybe downvotes with no explanation are the best downvotes?

    why 9 downvotes

  • That is total nonsense. Sentences with no meaning don't "convey the information that they have no meaning" (they actually can have meaning to someone who understands the sentence, but I was not deliberately taking information, encoding it into language and conveying it) and even if we accept such a ridiculous premise, I think it's reasonable for a casual onlooker to assume that TTG weren't talking about conveying information that their words have no meaning but rather that they were talking about information pertaining to TWAU.

You said in your reply to the OP:
"Fortunately the staff at TTG is smarter than that, and knows that giving in to loudmouths will only make them louder, not quieter."
This is pretty much the definition of defending TTG and their position of not telling us jack.

I'm talking about TTGs lack of response because you made a bunch of assertions about the OP and others that really were not justified. If TTG interacted properly with the community and gave some information like, for example, how squad did with the delayed release of the ARM mission for KSP, they would likely get less backlash and you can't really blame the community for being uptight when you won't tell them anything and things are being "delayed" in their eyes without any kind of updates.

tl;dr, you shouldn't be surprised at people bitching when you leave them hanging without any information on the product they paid for and have expectations about receiving. And it's also not necessarily their fault, it depends on a case by case basis and in this case the OP was not being vitriolic or unkind, he was just expressing exasperation at not being told anything. Sure, some people are whiny dumbasses who don't understand the concept of what they're buying, this is extremely prevalent with games that are in "early access" alpha. He wasn't being a whiny dumbass in this case though.
