Playing a violent, mean and dim-witted Bigby

edited February 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

I'm about to start a new playthrough where Bigby uses the maximum amount of force the game allows (tears off Grendel's arm, smashes up Geordie's place, beats up the suspect in Ep.2 etc), is mean to everyone, including Snow and TJ, and is slow in joining the dots while investigating (beats the truth out of Toad instead of figuring things out and and makes silly theories about the killer from the clues in the hotel room).

He'll also steal money from whomever the game allows but will never give any of it away.

Hell, he'll even let Dee go and catch the Woodsman instead, with the intention of beating him up some more as payback for what he did in the Red Little Riding Hood fairytale.

I might have to replay a decent Bigby after that just to wash off the stench, but it should be fun!

  • Bastard Bigby has his merits.

For one, he can finally stock that goddamned fridge of his next episode.

  • Ha, I considered doing such a run myself. I'm not sure if I could go through with it, but it'd be fun nonetheless.

Man, now that I think, there's a lot of opportunities so far to scare the shit out of TJ.

  • Yup, and he won't have to smoke Huff and Puff that Beauty says is crap.

  • It's going to be hard being mean to all the damsels in distress, I admit. And to poor TJ too ...

  • Keep us updated. I've tried to do a mean Bigby, but it's SO painful. I have a save file that I just couldn't finish.

  • I just finished a stupid mean Bigby playthrough. I think the most painful thing was being harsh with TJ during the questioning. :( Poor little thing. But, there are some funny moments once you really get going. The hotel scene is hilarious! I said that I thought the perpetrator was a cross-dressing guy with a food fetish who was obsessed with death. And Beauty was all like "Oh my god, you may be right. That's sick." I was laughing so hard I was in tears.

  • I see Bigby as a normally calm personna, who can be violent if pushed too hard, but tries to avoid it. Hence, while I usually pick the grumpy dialogue options, I'm normally nice to characters as long as they're nice to Bigby. And I never pick "violence for the sake of violence" options, like tearing off Gren's arm. However, the way I see it, Bigby's calm side comes from his soft spot for Snow. So in the beginning of the game, while I was still thinking Snow was dead, I took off the proverbal restraint off Bigby, and tortured the shit out of Dee. As soon as Snow reappeared, however, balance was restored and I didn't pick a single violent or harsh option again. However, if Snow had remained dead for the entire episode, I would have roleplayed Bigby completely differently. Let's just say that Georgie and Beast would have gotten their share of Bigby's wrath as well.

  • Just completed Episode 2 as a violent, mean and dim-witted Bigby. I started off intending to see what happens if Bigby pisses off Snow every opportunity he gets and found that he simply can't! His options range from being empathetic to indifference, but never hostility or even belligerence. And Snow is always on his side and supportive no matter how much of a dick he is to everyone else.

Not much changes by playing Bigby this way plot-wise, I feel. When Bigby was white-knighting and refused to have Snow come with him to see Holly and then proceeded to piss off everyone in the bar, Snow turned up anyway and cleaned up his mess. And after being mean to Holly, Snow asked Bigby gently to put in more effort with Holly, and gave him a smile of encouragement.

I intend to use this save file for more violence and insensitivity in future episodes alongside one for my own canon Bigby who is less of a dick.

  • Exactly! This version of Bigby solves cases not by connecting the dots but by beating up suspects or having vital clues fall onto his lap, like the envelope with the photos. In that hotel room, my dim-witted Bigby also makes the same conclusions as yours - the suspect is a death-obsessed cross-dresser with a food fetish :D Hilarious!

  • The Bigby of my own canon is probably not too far from yours, but the fun of playing an alternate, bizarro Bigby is to see what the writers came up with when you pick those unsavoury choices.
