different endings
I kinda had a stupid idea just now...
So far telltale always went for a very linear story progression. The choices you make never really influenced the main story in any way. It´s just the way how you experience the story that is completely different to everybody else - and that´s what makes the games so great.
But what if... the choices this time have a little bit more influence than we think. What if at the end of episode 5 some choices / one choice you took before lead to you having a different killer than everybody else?

A different killer would be a little weird however I think having different endings would be good, say with different people surviving etc. However I think the killer should remain the same a satisfying conclusion can only come about if it is shocking and still makes sense. Its really hard to do this with multiple people.
I'm all for making choices more meaningful, but not in this particular area. It makes no sense. The killer is already out there, it is someone we might, or might not know yet, but it should be the same person for everyone, because the deeds he committed are already in the past. The choices we make now can affect whether or not we find the killer, how that happens and what we do with him, but they should definitely not change the identity of the man.
I don´t think this is going to happen either... it was just a stupid idea I had xD
The reason what gave me this idea is that right now it seems like we don´t know anything about the killer. We know he killed two hookers. That´s pretty much it. The rest of the story seems to just try to misslead us.
Every noncomic char right now could have done it.
Maybe we already had a really important scene with the killer in it so far, but we can´t know at this point.
So if episode 1-4 are just missdiretion then it wouldn´t be that unbelievable to have 2 different possible killers. They would probably have the same motivation to kill the victims. It´s not impossible to write a story like that. The main plot difference would be in episode 5 then.
And the choice that triggers it could just be episode 1 where you choose who to capture at the end. The guy that doesn´t get captured is then nominated as the killer (I obviously don´t think that´s the case - it´s just a stupid example xD)
Blade Runner had a similar concept where the game would pick someone to be the "bad guy" at the start of the game and the game was still very similar and every one made sense in the end.
I also wouldn´t really hurt season 2. You just don´t use any of the different possible killer chars in season 2 anymore.
I agree though that it´s not really the way telltale has been doing things so far. And I acctually prefer the way they do it to the way heavy rain did it. I rather have one strong story than 5 different where all of them suffer from trying to make it fit somehow.
