Lawrence and Detective Brannigan?

edited February 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

One of the things that I noticed about Episode 2 in terms of the previews was that if you saved Lawrence, then he showed up in the previews, but was not in the actual episode itself. What happened? Why was the scene with Lawrence cut? Was it simply pushed back to Episode 3?

Speaking of Episode 3, I was excited to see Detective Brannigan at the start of the episode and in the trailer, because I recognized her as the Detective from the Episode 3 slide. Or at least.... The old slide. Now the slide has changed. Before, it was Brannigan following Bigby to the Woodlands, and now, it looks like it's Bigby chasing Crane's car.

This doesn't necessarily mean the character was cut, she still showed up, but will that be the only time that she shows up now? Why would they have changed it if they hadn't cut the character?

If they have cut Lawrence and Brannigan from the game, or at least given them less important roles in the story, then I'm not going to lie, I'll be pretty disappointed. I was interested in the possible "The Fable community has been discovered!" storyline with Brannigan, and I liked Lawrence.

  • Yeah I agree with you 100%

  • I feel the same.

  • Wait, was Brannigan in the preview for episode 3?

  • No, she was on the original slide for Episode 3, but they changed the slide after Episode 2 came out.

  • I personally don't see them completely cutting a character after she was supposed to play such a big role, Maybd they just changed a couple things but she will still appear and have an impact, As for Lawrence he obviously will reappear as well since that choice To Save Him or Not has to matter for something, They wouldn't just wipe him off the map

  • Glad to know I wasn't the only one who has felt this way. Now come to think of it, I wish that the police station scene in the beginning was a little bit longer, don't ya think? Way too short in my opinion.

  • Still, they had to have changed the slide for some reason, right?

  • i was asking myself the same questions. i was disappointed because of the cuts and rewriting the whole episode.. but it may be for the best. did you notice that this episode was lacking the big choice that affects the whole gameplay? like the one in first episode, toad or lawrence. i think that they changed much in the plot itself, forgetting a bit about the shocking and impressive parts. also the choices (which i think are the hardest).
but still, i hope it was for the best. im just sad that we'll probably never know, what things and why were changed :(

  • The easiest guess would be that they changed the episodes..... But, wouldn't that mean they will have to change 4 and 5 too?

  • Maybe they have rewritten everything or screwed up somewhere breaking the lore. this would explain why everything seems to have changed from the old EP2 teaser.

Bigby never gets frustrated at the office about Snow's murder, if you captured Woody, he never tells you about "the girl with the coat", Dee and Dum never follow your every move, If you saved the prince you never see him at all, the talk with Holly AND Georgie goes differently, the meeting between Beauty and Beast is in a completely different location, AND they delayed Bigby's complete change into wolf form, never having it happen in this episode, but instead replaying the exact same scene for the teaser of Episode 3.

Could be that they changed the focus of the episode I suppose. With Brannigan on the slide for Episode 3, it would be easy to see that she would be the focus of the episode, and if they rewrote it to give her a lesser part, or (hopefully not)cut her from the episode, they'd have to change the slide.

  • Hmm, I just completed Episode 2 and I have no idea who Detective Brennigan is, at all. He's not even been in the story that I have experienced; and I caught T. Dee and saved Toad first.

  • PLEASECOMEBACKBRANNIGANYOUWEREADORABLELOOKING.
And yeah, come back too, Lawrence...
It's weird they'd cut the latter out especially since they made a model where he was normal looking for the ep2 preview.

  • The detective questioning you in the beggining of the episode.

Hmm, I don't recall any such person.

Okay, I had to replay the beginning of Episode 2 just to remember who she was. Her part is so miniscule and minor that honestly, it was very easy to forget her. Had I not rewatched the beginning of Episode 2 just now I still would have no idea she was even in the story.

  • I'd like to see both characters have the chance to come back as well. My hope is that some things weren't cut, so much as rearranged.

  • Lawrence does have a minor presence in the episode, if indirectly; if you save him and then ask Holly about Georgie, Bigby will say he's heard the name before. I do hope he and Brannigan play a bigger role in the future, though.

  • Yes, hopefully they just decided to split her involvement between Episodes 3 and 4 or something, rather than making it the focus of Episode 3. I just hope they haven't cut anything significantly.

  • I fullheartedly agree. The idea of her being a lone mundy investigating Bigby and the fables seems intensively fascinating to me. And incredibly cute too, for some reason.

  • Those freckles, man. They pluck at our heartstrings in such a good way, it's so... magically 'mundy-tastic'!

  • I thought the having Brannigan snooping around fabletown and stalking Bigby would make a great plot.
