The Killer: What We Know (Just the Facts)

edited February 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

Since we're all speculating about who the killer is, I thought it might be useful to have a thread for keeping track of what we know for sure about the killer so far. No theories, just the facts.

  • Both victims have been women who worked at the Pudding & Pie.
  • All of the women who work at the Pudding & Pie where a ribbon around their necks. Faith's head was found with this ribbon in her mouth, but Lily's was not.
  • All of the women who work at the Pudding & Pie use the phrase, "These lips are sealed," when asked for information about their employer.
  • The killer has decapitated both of his victims and left their heads on the steps of the Woodlands.
  • The murder weapon is a blade, possibly enchanted.
  • The last known people to see the first victim were Bigby and Woody at Woody's apartment building. She intended to see Bigby at the Woodlands before she was killed.
  • The $58.00 that Bigby gives Faith is later found in Georgie's safe at the Pudding & Pie.
  • Woody was expecting Lily the night of Faith's murder. A note was found at the Pudding & Pie indicating that Faith was covering for Lily.
  • The last known person to see the second victim was Ichabod Crane. He was a client engaging in a role-playing fantasy involving Snow White's poisoning from the fairy tales.
  • Lily's sister Holly reported that she was missing prior to Faith's murder.
  • Lily was killed in Room 207 of the Open Arms Hotel, the same room where she met with Crane. That room is being rented out long-term. The master key to hotel rooms did not work on the door to this room.
  • A piece of blue fabric, possibly from the killer's pants, was found at the first crime scene.
  • An unidentified person seen dumping Lily's body in the river was heard saying, "Stop laughing at me."
  • Huff n Puff brand cigarettes, possibly smoked by the killer, were found in the ashtray in the room where Lily was killed.

What else should we add to the list?

Edits:

2/7 - Added the information about the victims wearing ribbons, the phrase "these lips are sealed," and Lily being killed in Room 207. Added information about Faith covering for Lily the night of Faith's murder. Added information about the money Bigby gave Faith being in Georgie's safe.

Comments

  • Room 207 was possibly rented long term, according to Beauty

Faith's cubby at the Pudding n' Pie was searched.

    • Lily was Woody's regular girl, but she asked Faith to switch with her. Faith ended up being murdered that night.
  • The money you gave Faith is in Georgie's Safe.

  • Did Telltale tease That Bigby Could be involved somehow? I don't see how he could but its something that came to mind, When they Said " I thought you were the only one who smokes that" I just thought about it for a second but the only way this could be is if Bigby has some kind of split personality Which is a longshot

  • All of the strippers/prostitutes encountered thus far wear a blue ribbon around their necks. This may be the source of the spell that prevents them from revealing important information. Faith's ribbon was found inside her decapitated head's mouth possibly as a sign that she was about to release info.

  • Not true, I chose not to give her money, and the money in the safe was still present.

  • Or if they say stuff, the ribbon rips their head off. If its enchanted with magic, it sounds possible. Bigby did mention it was a strange cut.

  • Do we know when that note was written? Holly and Grendel mention that they reported Lily's disappearance weeks ago, which would mean that she was already missing on the night that Faith was murdered.

    * Lily was Woody's regular girl, but she asked Faith to switch with her. Faith ended up being murdered that night.

  • Seems unlikely that Bigby would be the killer, although that might be brought up later as evidence by someone wanting to make it look like he is. I wouldn't take Beauty's comment as being the literal truth--why would a cigarette company make a brand just for a single customer? But it does sound like this might be a particularly rare brand that not many people smoke. So if you can figure out who else in Fabletown smokes Huff n Puffs, that could significantly narrow down the suspect list. I don't think Crane likes them, so they're probably not his.

  • Really? I was just going to say, that besides being the same amount, who's to say the money in the safe is the same that Bigsby gave to Faith...? ( But I suppose he could just smell it and know.)

I wonder... If you were somebody who chose to pocket Dee's wad of cash during the interrogation in the beginning, is the roll of cash still there in the floor safe at the end, as well? I could've sworn I chose to take the money, but I know I replayed that scene a few times... If you grab the cash, does it stay in your inventory the entire episode, like the Matchbook or Cash would in the 1st Episode if you opted to not give them from Faith?

Well, if you interrogate Woody, he says that on the night that Faith was killed he had been expecting Lily as usual, but Faith showed up instead. He admits that it made him angry, but still claims that he didn't kill her.

Then we have the note asking Faith to switch. Perhaps the note was about something else, but we know that Woody was expecting Lily that night. Not Faith.

Obiviously the ginger guy (cryer) is somehow involved to this. In episode 2 there was those two pictures of snow and bigby taken by a stalker. In episode 1 the ginger guy was following bigby and snow everywhere they goed. My theory is that he glamoured himself looklike crane and he might be the killer.

  • I think that whoever the murderer is, wanted to frame Crane, because I don't think Crane would have taken a picture like that with Lily and left it there, with the other photos of Snow.

  • The Person who dumped the Body in the Water could be Hans. Someone laughed at him because he may have done it wrong since he seems to have a clumsy Gesticulation. Or he does it so easily at command or for some minor cash. And therefore he respond with 'Don't laugh at me'. To defend himself a bit.

  • Okay then. I missed that. Interesting.

Well, if you interrogate Woody, he says that on the night that Faith was killed he had been expecting Lily as usual, but Faith showed up inste

  • There are certainly compelling arguments to be made for the Red Haired Man being involved and that the killer might be trying to frame Crane, but for now, I think both of those theories still fall under the category of conjecture.

  • Was I the only one who thought Beauty was being a little too helpful during the hotel room investigation?

  • For the Little Mermaid it looks like she was really struggling, almost in pain, is she was being forced to say these your lips are sealed. Like it seems like an enchantment or spell is mentally and physically preventing them from saying anything and if they try to it hurts them.

  • You could also add that the ribbons have a pair of lips on them, and that the photograph of Crane (presumably) and Lily as Snow has black lines going through the middle, possibly indicating that it was doctored, whereas the other photos do not have such marks (and why leave them there, anyway?).

As for the cigarettes that were smoked and left behind, I think this means that the person who smoked them thinks that if he does what Bigby does, maybe "Snow" will like him (kind of a childish mentality, really), and perhaps the other part of the scenario is that the killer is trying to transform into a wolf.

Lastly, this ritual reminds me of the movie Necromantik 2 where the killer decapitated a man while having sex with him and replaced his head the head of a different, much more decomposed person. I've been wondering what the purpose to the cutting off of heads was besides to send a strong message, so maybe there's some further reason for replacing it.

  • Not to me. I think that's part of the gameplay design so that players can be sure they're on the right track when they answer the right questions. Not unlike when you interrogate Toad the first time, and you see that two of the dialogue options are questions and one's an assertion. The game tries to lead you to make the right choice if you're not sure yourself, so you can get the most out of the story anyway.

  • I'm sure there are other boards that discuss this, but the mirror in episode 1 also uses the "lips are sealed" phrase when asked about Faith. Definitely more than a coincidence.

  • The mirror said something about a strong magic in Episode 1 preventing anything being shown of Faith.

  • The pig Bigby was with in episode one smoked them...

  • For the red-headed male character that we see pop up from time to time, random thought, could it be possible that's the Mad Hatter? Just not hyped up about tea but maybe could snap and go crazy and kill people?

  • Fair enough. She just seemed... a little suspicious to me is all. Like when she first came in and said "This is what must have happened!" or whatever. I could be wrong, but it is something I have to keep in mind. Can't really think of any motive, though.
