Mr. Toad comes from the book The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.

He does die in the comics.
What about tj?
As far as I remember it's never mentioned whether or not Toad has a son in the comics. Toad's not a major character in the books or anything. Just shown in a few panels.
