Black Screen, Episodes 2-5
The Game worked fine before, played through once completely. Deleted game content at some time, went to replay from start.
Unfortunately, the Black screen started at Episode 2. ( It asked me if I wanted to rewind the episode, and that if I did so I would lose all previous data)
Regardless of clicking yes or no the Main Menu mouse appears, sometimes accompanied with repetitive episode music, but the screen remains black....forever.
Yes this question has been asked before by others but their situations differed slightly so I aim to help any others with this problem
Yes game has been completely wiped (Steam Account) and re installed . Game tried with cloud data both on and off.
"Update" Patch has been downloaded...didn't help

Please do a search on your computer for prefs.prop. You should only have one copy of this file in your save game directory. If you find another copy elsewhere, this needs to be removed. Usually this duplicate file can be found in either a Gamedata folder adjacent to your save directory, or in your installation folder. If you are playing on Steam, you will need to find the Walking Dead game data within your Steam installation folder. If you remove this prefs file, but still experience the issue, then it's possible the duplicate file is being recognized instead of the prefs in your save directory. Please take the duplicate file and move it into your save folder (which will overwrite the existing file). You may want to back-up both of these files before attempting this process, just in case.
Unfortunately, if this does not resolve your issue, then your prefs file has most likely been corrupted. This is rare, but can happen if the save is compromised (for example, if the game crashes during an autosave, or if the game is closed using Task Manager). If this is the case, then the corrupted prefs can no longer be used and should be removed from your computer to prevent any further complications.
The telltale were correct in that my files did have a redundancy. Unfortunately the original plan did not work.
The way I got my game to work was to let the steam "Delete Local Content" option run its course then, double check that the content was actually deleted. In doing so i found out that not all of the data was cleared resulting in the continuation of the problem. For anyone else with this issue, simply delete the game entirely from your system and have steam do its "Delete Local Content" option and it will work, however i did not bring any of my saved data with me.
I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. Thank you for sharing your solution with the forum for other players to see!
