Old Technology Styles?

I don't expect this thread to last.... unless it becomes like "The Bottomless Bottle of Mountain Dew" discussion.

Anybody else notice that SB has a *said with a shudder* digital camera, aka the Snappy? What possessed him to buy new technology? Digital Cameras aren't 30-year-old electronics, how dare he have one?

And I know that Laptop Computers existed at least 10 years ago, because we bought an old one in 1996 for my older bro for Christmas so that counts as an old technology.

Hey, who said it was new?It only has enough memory for four pictures, it looks like a piece of crap when it comes up (is that a camera or a black tablet?),it can't record video, and can't zoom in.Seems extremely low-tech.

The Snappy has the same amount of storage space as your hard drive in the PC version. ;)

Maybe it isn't his. He's never holding it. Maybe it's yours, the view looks as if you pulled it out. And SB is never holding it.

Because he is so awesome. ;)

(Shouldn't that be 'why did we pay money to spy on Strong Bad?' :p)

We pay money to control his actions. The website lets us spy on him for free.

Because he doesn't have a printer that isn't either a dot matrix printer or perpetually running out of ink. And Marzipan probably would trust any image being shown on a soulless high-tech device like the Snappy.

But doesn't it seem odd how that's never addressed in-game?

For what its worth, early on I think the Cheat was supposed to be the photographer. I don't think that ended up in the final game (the camera in the end was a more abstract thing, and the Cheat's photography duty was scaled down to just being the guy who provides help in the photo booth), but that's one reason it was allowed to be a decently-modern digital camera. If it makes you feel better to imagine that the Cheat is always taking the pictures, then you can do that. :)

Ignore the fact that then, in your imagination, the Cheat could potentially be taking the picture while also being in the picture itself, of course. Hrm... come to think of it, that might be one reason "the Cheat as photographer" was dropped. I can't remember, though.

Also, that camera isn't that new. It takes forever to start up, and the buttons are all laggy.
