Are the "Next Time" trailers worthless?
So obviously at the end of Episode 1 we had a next time trailer for Episode 2. Then when Episode 2 came around, it was totally different, and there was a bunch of scenes in the trailer that had nothing at all to do with events in Episode 2. I put this down to the huge delay and the story being re-written.
However, replaying the end of Episode 2 yesterday I noticed that once again the "Next Time" trailer for Episode 3 contained a whole bunch of stuff that (as far as I can tell) doesn't ever occur at all in the actual episode itself. There wasn't a huge delay this time, so what gives?
I know that Telltale work on these games right up until release, which is fine and helps to ensure the best possible episode is the one we get to play. But if so much gets changed, does this mean that the "Next Time" trailers are effectively utterly worthless? They're cool and all, but can they still provide a tantalising tease for what to expect in the next episode, when the precedent is that the episode will be different to those scenes anyway?
Comments
They're a lot less accurate than they were in Walking Dead season 1 that's for sure.
I find it best to view the "next time" videos as a glimpse of some of the elements that'll be at play in the next episode rather than things being in there scene for scene.
For example, the first "next time" video showed us Bigby angry about snow's "death", a fight between Bigby and Beast as well as a glimpse at Georgie and those things happened just not shot for shot as they did in the trailer.
The "next time" video for Crooked Mile showed us Crane on the run, Bluebeard asserting his power, Dee with a shotgun and Bigby as a werewolf and these things all happened. Again, just not exactly as in the clips themselves.
theyre pretty much useless no scene from episode 3 was featured in the next tim in ep 2
