Episode 3 Review
I've never read the comics, nor did I know anything about the world of Fables before starting this game. It has grown on me, like The Walking Dead. Season Two of The Walking Dead started out awful. They redeemed themselves in episode two but I hope they don't milk it like the TV show. The TV show was good for the first two seasons and then it got bad.
Moving on, I was very pleased with Episode 3 of The Wolf Among Us. The only part I was confused on was that no matter what you choose to do at the end, Snow will be mad at you. This has happened in The Walking Dead too. No matter what decision you make, the outcome turns out to be the same. This doesn't happen enough to affect the game as a whole, but it can get annoying sometimes. I
This episode had me on edge throughout the whole thing. I liked having three choices (Crane's apartment, Tweedle's Office, and the Trip Trap). I've played the episode twice and it's very different when choosing from the three. I was frustrated that even agreeing to leave Crane alone lead to the same outcome. Then there is throwing the dumpster and the electricity box. How did those miss Bloody Mary and the cars? At the Trip Trap, I laughed when I saw "Gren will not remember this" in the top left corner of the screen.
Overall, it's an amazing episode. Just like episode two of the Walking Dead Season 2.
Side note: I tried playing this on my iPhone 5s and the game crashes at the loading screen, so I'm glad I have it on Xbox as well.
Edit: Just finished Episode 1 on my iPhone. I have to say, visually, everything runs smoothly. On the Xbox, it seemed laggy. Like it was just too much for my Xbox to handle. Everything is clear and smooth on the iPhone. It's also easier to locate items on your screen as well as touch the button to get them. Transition between scenes is the biggest improvement from the Xbox to the iPhone. On the Xbox, some dialogue would play on a black screen with the loading icon before the animation could catch up. Then the rest of it would be laggy for a while and eventually catch up. On the iPhone, I don't have this problem.

The wolf amoung us had the possibility to be a great set games, but unfortunately it doesn't look like they will be. I thought episode 3 was generally good, but overall it felt like a letdown. Really when you look at it, nothing happened in episode 3. Just like episode 2. You just get forced along in this somewhat predictable story you really have no control over as the player. Meeting Mary was the only memorable event from e3, IMO.
My gut feeling is that telltale have given up on this series, and are just trying to finish out the season to get it over with. I played it through first time in an hour. I sort of felt cheated on the gameplay, but the boring plot is was what I was more disappointed with.
I think this is what Ep2 should have been. I have no problems with it, except maybe what you mentioned about the story not really going anywhere. The investigations, and plot points seemed like they kind of belonged in Ep2, not really in the middle of the season. I am hyped for the next one, but I can't really tell what the focus of the story is. Find out who killed Faith and Lilly? Stop whatever the Crooked Man is up to? Both? Smoke and Mirrors was aptly named. I knew Crane could not be the killer. It was a) Too obvious, and b) I just had just recently picked up the comics again. The whole episode was kind of filler, misdirection, smoke and mirrors.
The moment for being more or less in the dark should have passed last time around. Faith started all of this, and I knew it would get somehow bigger; it is just kind of disheartening that it has indeed gotten bigger 6 months and three episodes in. One of the great ones, in my book, but I have my doubts on just how well they can wrap things up with just two episodes left.
If you experience a crash on iOS, a few tips:
1) Make sure you're on the latest TWAU executable update (1.2).
2) Try closing apps running in the background on your iOS device to free up memory. To close the unused apps, double-tap the home button, then swipe upward.
3) Close and then relaunch TWAU.
Hope this helps! Thanks for playing :-)
I play on my Iphone 4S
Very good episode, with the branching story very smart. I really liked the character development in the episode and the ending really spoke for itself. The voice acting was quite good and the story went miles forward.
The downside for me was the inconsistency in the dialogue. For example, at the beginning, my Bigby said to Snow that he didn't think that Crane was the killer (It made no sense, at least from the outside, that he was), but when you finally apprehend him the game made it feel as though the roles were reversed and he said Crane was the killer. When the dialogue about it came, it was really confusing and brought me out of the game at a time when it should have felt very genuine.
All in all I think it was the best TWAU episode so far, and it has set up the next two episodes very well
It worked. Thanks!
Yeah, i can see it that way, too. If i played crooked mile as EP2 i would have been more receptive too it.
I agree totally with you in that game has sort of morphed into a directionless mess. I cant see how TTG can correct that in the 2 hours or so of gameplay that is left. Not every game made can be great, and i think Telltale just missed on this one. It happens i guess.
Hey, you gotta have faith! Oh...
Who's that? Was she in the game? I cant remember, now.
