Guesses as to the identity of the Crooked Man
Anyone else already taking farfetched pot shots at who he might be?
I've been considering the Headless Horseman or one of the Brothers Grimm (yeah really) so far. Maybe it's Rumpelstilzchen too! That would be sorta fitting - Rumpelstilzchen does have some evil overmind tendencies, is more or less anonymous and likes to extort money from people under threat of killing a dear beautiful lady. Faith has failed to procure the money and wound up dead, and Crane failed so too and his favourite prostitute wound up dead.
Though wondering if there's a figure already connected with "crooked man" I googled it and found an old English nursery rhyme. Maybe he's no specific fable/fairytale figure at all and just based on that rhyme? That would be pretty boring.

He's the Crooked Man from this poem:
"There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile,
He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile;
He bought a crooked cat which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together in a little crooked house."
Yeah but I'm wondering if there may be more to him. I don't want him to be just a single-verse poem. ((
I'm sure there will be more to him. I mean, look at what they did with Georgie's character and he grew from a simple poem.
Boy Blue is a fan-favourite character in the comics and he's from a nursery-rhyme no longer than that Crooked Man poem.
