The Opening Titles

One of the things about Borderlands that I've always loved is the opening title sequences which set up the mood perfectly, from the mindless and gratuitous violence, the open wasteland - and of course, the music.

"Ain't no rest for the wicked" by Cage the Elephant; "Short Change Hero" by The Heavy - they all have that western twang and anti-hero vibe.

Just cause it's kinda fun to imagine - wonder what songs you guys think might introduce the setting of TOTB.

Here's my picks:

"Radioactive" - Imagine Dragons.

I'm waking up to ash and dust

I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust

I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus

This is it, the apocalypse

I might like to see a cover version (the one by Boyce Avenue is rather good, though perhaps a bit laid back for Borderlands.) The original which is a bit over-produced for the Borderlands, but the lyrics just fit in so damn well, with that western-style flute in the background. There's also the beginning with the guitar/chorus duet.

"In The Air Tonight" cover by Nonpoint. (orig. Phil Collins)

I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord.

And I've been waiting for this moment, all my life, oh lord. Oh lord.

"Rockin' in the Free World" by Neil Young

Other Neil Young classics might be "Heart of Gold"

There's a warning sign on the road ahead.

There's a lotta people saying we'd be better off dead.

Don't feel like Satan but I am to them.

So I try to forget it any way I can.
