I can click it but then all the game tells me is that it cannot download the content at the moment. I have verified the cache, all updates are automatic etc... but i just cannot get on it at all

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please try deleting your SyncFs folder from your

    C:\Users\%Username%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Wolf Among Us\ file directory,

and then restart the game, and you should receive any of the necessary updates to make Episode 3 available to download.

I've tried this method multiple times to no avail :( I was hoping to have a review up of the this episode a few days ago but restart after restart and steam synchronization will not let me download that episode days after its release. It still shows up as "coming soon" even though it's advertised on the main menu as being available for download. It's just very frustrating because I've been so eager to play this episode. I haven't had any issues with the previous episodes of this season or last season, so it's a peculiar issue to stem from nowhere it seems.

For clarification, this is for a season pass activated on Steam.

Please also try making sure that your The Walking Dead game is set to 'Always keep this game up to date'. To do this, please right click on the game from within your Steam Library and go to Properties. Once in the Properties window, navigate to the Updates tab, and under the Automatic Updates section make sure that the drop down bar is set to Always keep this game up to date.

After you set the game to always update, please close down the Steam Client completely. (Please also make sure to close it if it is still open in the hidden icons in the bottom right of the screen when you click the upward facing arrow. If it is, please right click the Steam icon and click Exit.)

Once Steam is closed, please reopen it, and wait between 10-20 min before starting a game, and you should receive any of the necessary updates for The Walking Dead to work. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.

  • That was already the set update selection but I selected it again and and then deleted the sync files after closing steam and still no luck. I notice that the episode 3 Steam achievements are also showing up so it's like the rest of my Steam account knows that it's available but it's still not letting me.

After looking over your support tool information, everything in the file structure seems to be in order. Can you please clarify if you have tried fully closing down Steam, and restarting your computer?

(When fully closing Steam, please also make sure to close it if it is still open in the hidden icons in the bottom right of the screen when you click the upward facing arrow. If it is, please right click the Steam icon and click Exit.)

Once Steam is closed, please restart your computer, and then restart the Steam Client (make sure you are connected to the internet when doing this), and sign into your Steam account, and you should receive any of the necessary updates for The Walking Dead to work.

  • Yes, I tried it again just now with no luck. I don't know what else to do. This is incredibly frustrating.

My apologies for the delayed response. You can also try uninstalling the game, and reinstalling it. To do this you will have to right click the game from within your Steam Library, and click Delete Local Content. Then it will uninstall the game. (Please note your save files will not be harmed in the process.) Then after the game is uninstalled, you can click 'Install' on the game's page while you have it selected in your Steam Library, and this should install the game with the latest updates including Episode 3.

  • I have tried this already to no avail :/ This is just absolutely boggling my brain. I don't understand why.

Unfortunately if none of my previous solutions worked, I am out of potential solutions to resolve your issue. I would try my above suggestion again, and leave the Steam Client window open for a little longer and the auto-update should eventually start. I will paste the exact steps again for you to try a couple more times.

After you set the game to always update, please try closing the Steam Client completely (Please also make sure to close it if it is still open in the hidden icons in the bottom right of the screen when you click the upward facing arrow. If it is, please right click the Steam icon and click Exit.), then restart your computer, and restart Steam while connected to the internet. Then leave the Steam Client open for 15-20 minutes, and the auto-update should eventually start. If it does not, please try restarting Steam a few times, and the update should eventually start.

  • If these steps do not work, am I just not going to be able to play the episode?

The auto-update should start after connecting to the Steam servers. I would recommend trying the above steps again and you should eventually receive the update. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

If these steps do not work, am I just not going to be able to play the episode?
