Ribbon [Spoilers]

Reading between the lines of this episode's dialog, I feel like if the ribbon is removed from the prostitute's necks for any reason they may die. Funny how the only victims have been prostitutes with the ribbons. Let's say they or someone else tried to remove the ribbons, the heads were magically sawed off (Bigby said in episode 1 'something very sharp or magical did this to the neck') and the bodies were used as pawns for the rest of Crooked Man's plans. Any thoughts?

It has been speculated on these forums since the very firs episode, that removing the ribbon indeed causes the girl's head to be severed. There is a fable about a girl who wears a ribbon around her neck that she never removes and one day her boyfriend removes the ribbon while she sleeps or something and her head falls off. Used to freak me out as a kid. They must have got the idea from there. So yeah, makes sense from the Crooked Man's perspective. A powerful spell is attached to the ribbon that prevents the girls from betraying any of the Crooked Man's (or his associates') secrets and if the girl tries to take the ribbon off, it kills her. So I guess that answers the question HOW these girls were killed, however, I don't quite see why. Especially Lilly, she didn't seem to do anything to compromise the Crooked Man's secrets.

  • One of the dialog options has Bigby deducing that Faith and Lily probably died because someone removed their ribbons.
