He was being honest and friendly. He even said he wasn't sure whom should he hit his axe with lol. However Jersey was being serious, but let's not forget he's an enemy. So he could have lied.
Besides, Jersey said "whatever TCM wants will happen eventually" - which as well means "Those girls are still dead and there's nothing you can do about it because that's what TCM wants". Actually that sentence kinda proves what the Woodsman said. Oh not to mention this "you can get the man who did this". xd
