  • Hard to tell. Maybe they just reveal the central questions and leave the details for us to piece together. I'm for a 2h episode to make up for how short ep.4 was. A lot could be answered in 2h. And in the end it just really matters how satisfying things play out. Even a sad ending can be extremelly rewarding and fulfilling, like TWD season 1's ending was.

  • Well if you're right about this then that'd be really cool (that you managed to solve it), but damn I'd be disappointed by the whole story. Then again, at this point I'm starting to think that every possibly outcome will leave some unanswered questions that ultimately make me disappointed... Ugh, I'm getting worried.

He being key for solving the mystery may be a good reason for the writers to make him so "unsuspicious". In big mystery novels the following popular saying fits "it's always the ones we least suspect".

  • I would damn well ratter be wrong if the plot turns out better than my prediction suggests, hehehe.

I think that the more it makes sense in the end, the more the hints they left through the episodes and we missed, and the farther that all fan theories get from the true, the better and more exciting/rewarding the conclusion will be.

Bunch of people here proved to be very creative, imaginative and inclined to logical reasoning, you included. For an old cynic like myself, it was more than a pleasant surprise.

    1) Dr. Swineheart isn't some miracle worker. He even told Snow that if a shrapnel from a silver bullet pierced Bigbys heart, it would kill Bigby (A very well known fable), so reattaching a decapitated head that has been severed for who knows how long to a lesser known fable would likely result to be a sewn up cadaver.

    2) I mentioned it in my post, yes. Apparently you were to busy nitpicking things to discredit my theory when in fact you didn't even fully read it.

    3) Stretching things a bit far now aren't you? Admirable to you for thinking outside the box, but you're now so far outside the box your making shapes of your own. And yes, of course the ribbon is the cause of the magic. There is a fairy tale book by Alvin Schwartz called In A Dark, Dark Room. In that book, their is a story called The Green Ribbon. Here's a link

    4) Using adverbs like "fucking" now? Tsk tsk. Why would Faith need Nerissa to do it? Why is Faith hiding when her curse is broken? She can waltz into Bigbys office without a care in the world. Absolutely makes no sense for her to make Nerissa whose lips are still sealed because of the ribbon to guide Bigby when Faiths curse has been lifted, her ribbon is off, and she can say anything without the threat of decapitation.

    5) Whose they? You said "they". I don't know who they is? Crooked mans crew? Swineheart and the girls? I don't know. Anyways, what motivation does Swineheart have exactly? Not this crap about him just boosting his ego. No one has ever doubted his skill, so him proving himself to these people is like you racing a Prius with your Hennessey Venom GT. Its absurd and pointless. He has no reason to help or care. He wouldn't sneak behind Snow and Bigby and the entire fabletown community. Telltale wouldn't compromise the integrity of Swinehearts character in the graphic novels for some cheap twist of an ending.

  • 1) Transplanting a pig heart into himself sounds like miracle work to me. And people keep mentioning how he fixed Snow's head that was blasted to bits by shotgun or machinegun fire.
    2) Did you wanted me to try to prove every point in you theory wrong? Why would I? Was it so bad that I asked about something I didn't understand? I just tried to argue because I couldn't see working.
If that makes you feel better, I wasn't trying to discredit you or your theory; I was trying to understand why did you think that glamours would work the way you suggested so maybe I could understand glamours better, as I haven't touched the comics and the game doesn't explain much.
    3) Am I not allowed to stretch parts that I'm admitting to have no good grounds to theorize too much about?
    4) You don't like fucking? Well I'm sorry if that word hits some sensitive spot in you. Anyway, you say that if Faith faked her death, to get hid of the Crooked man's shackles and lead Bigby to him to put him out of business, she would have no reason to hide? lol! I'm sorry but did you even gave it a thought? Nobody would be able to protect her until Crooky was out definitively out of the picture.
    5) Saving lives behind the Business Office's back would compromise Swineheart's integrity? (How about the rumors that his prick pride have costed some important Fable's life in the comics). And, he would have no earthly reason to help or care the girls? I guess we will have to wait for ep.5 to see about that, specially the part about the girls being revived.

  • I think this thread has gotten closer to the actual answer than any thread so far.

It's pretty funny that you're referencing an event that happened in a book that you've never read and don't fully understand. The survival of a fable depends on the popularity of the tale. The only, ONLY reason Snow White survived being shot is because she is a popular fable. In fact, after a long recovery time she is finally visited by her sister, Rose Red, who had something to do with the events that lead to Snow being shot. But I'll be polite and not spoil that. Anyway, Rose Red gets into a fight with Snow White simply because Rose knows that if it was her that got shot in the head, she would not have survived. Now if you want to think that Faith A.K.A Donkeyskin Girl, Ass-skin girl, etc. is popular enough to survive decapitation than be my guest.

Seeking answers to understand a concept requires asking questions. The first question you asked, I answered politely and to the best of my ability. The reply you gave was not a question but just a statement to which ended up being a "there's just no way", To which I answered to the best of my ability. To which your reply was "I doubt that", to which I answered to the best of my ability. To which you replied with a "sounds very stupid" stonewalling comment. So don't play the victim.

Uh... Yes? You can't ignore the things you don't understand to make room for the things you think you do. This story branches out into many different streams, you can't just put a dam on the streams you don't understand. The streams will come together in the end, whether you dammed one off or not. So if you're putting dams into the stream, you need to make room for another theory with less dams.

I don't have a problem with cursing. I just feel like when a person curses it generally means they are getting upset but Im digressing. Anyway, so yet AGAIN you didn't understand what I said. Of course Faith would be afraid of the Crooked Man and hide from him. But she would NOT hide from Bigby. The information she would give Bigby would be enough to take the crooked man completely out of the picture and keep her safe from the people who are involved with him. What makes the crooked man dangerous is not knowing exactly who he has in his pocket. She would be able to reveal all that. If Faith could talk, she would.

You answered your own question. His pride lays solely on himself. His pride does not dictate that he helps a couple prostitutes or play rogue for the benefit of Fabletown. His pride is knowing that he is the greatest, smartest, most skilled surgeon ever known. And no one can convince him he is wrong even when he is (this was the case of the fable that died under his care).

    1) Transplanting a pig heart into himself sounds like miracle work to me. And people keep mentioning how he fixed Snow's head that was blast

  • If Faith revealed herself to Bigby she would just complicate even more this already incredibly messy situation. If Bigby is going in the direction that suits her why would she risk herself? And she probably has done some condemnable things for example with Lawrence and who knows what else. If she wants out, and the Crooked man out, she's fucking getting it (this is not cursing, you see? this is to intensify, because Faith is fucking awesome).

Also, if that's "the best of your ability"... well, try working on it, maybe? Try not to get so easily offended. Instead of acting defensively when criticized or questioned try to understand where it's coming from, and try to find a way to explain/express yourself better. You can learn a lot from exercising your abilities. Or, if you don't think it's worth your time, you can always simply ignore it, leave it be. That's how I try to deal with that sort of adversity. I try to use it to make myself better and better.

  • Trust me ackwell, OP has you all fooled. Nothing about his "theory" makes sense. He hid our little discussion through the guise of a "spoiler warning" because he had nothing new to bring to the table. He couldn't refute any of my inquiries about his theory, and near the end he started to take personal shots. This theory is bogus and OP is just seeking attention. My course of action would be to move on, make your own theory, and wait for the outcome. Have a good night ackwell.

  • No worries, I have my doubts for each theory I've read about. But I think most theories have some good points and some of it will definitely be in the final episode!

I've been toying with the idea to present my own theory, but I still have so many unanswered questions that I don't actually think I could present a creditable theory. There seems to be such a big change in the plot from episode 1 and then onwards. In that regard I'm totally onboard with the "they rewrote the plot because people figured it out after episode 1"-theory.

  • If you don't mind me ignoring 99% now, allow me to address that you said that you know that I'm wrong. Ok, then why don't we make a bet?

In your words "Ill be sure to rub it in when episode 5 comes out and we find out swineheart has absolutely nothing to do with it". Sure, feel free it that's your thing, but what if in ep.5 it turns out Swineheart had something to do with it?

Let's see, I'm also quite sure that you are wrong about your theory, and I'm willing to pay you a tribute if it turns out right. So, if in ep.5 it's revealed that, like you said, Faith killed Vivian with Lawrence's dagger, hiding her body because of the dagger wound, glamouring Vivian's body as her and glamouring herself as Vivian, etc. then I swear to God and all that's holy that I'll pay for a prostitute in your area to pay you a visit, dressed up as your favorite fable to play whatever fantasy you ask her for. Or if that's not you thing, I can try to find you a big, bald, bearded, hairy guy to slap you around shouting "I'm the Woodsman, you whore!", "say my name", etc. until you cum your shorts. Whatever makes you happier.

But, if the part of my theory that suggests that Swineheart reunited Faith's severed head to her body turns out right (I can't be sure about Lily like I said a hundred times) then you will come to this very thread and admit, for everyone to read, that I called it and that you are sorry for being so mean to me. Deal?

  • Haha. Wow, I'm speechless. The claws are now out huh? LOLOL First time you've actually proved me wrong, this whole time I thought I was debating someone intelligent with some kind of class. It was entertaining while it lasted. But I think I'm going to debate some adults now. Besides, this is probably one of the most petty arguments i've ever been a part of, and it's just been trumped by one of the most petty bets i've ever heard someone try to make with me. This has gone from entertaining to almost pitiful. Here's a few reasons why I won't play your game and won't accept your "bet".

    1) You could swear to any god, creature, video game, porn star, etc. that doesn't mean I would believe for a second that you would actually go through with your part of the deal when you get proved wrong.

    2) Prostitute? Really? I don't need cash to get laid (I noticed how you got more descriptive when getting into the homoerotic part of your comment. Being gay isn't a bad thing man, you can come out. Just not to me, alright?) . Nor would I want a prostitute. Plus I have no desire to disclose any personal information to you. Especially the area in which I live.

    3) If I'm right I'll rub it in like I said, just because I called it and you did everything to refute it. But on the slim chance I am wrong about your theory and you are right. I'll just laugh and move on to the next game. I'll forget about you, this thread, and my posts the second I finish playing episode 5. You, your ego, this thread, your "bet" are not even remotely important to me. I was just told to come here with my theory because I enjoy this game and graphic novels immensely. The only common ground you and I have.

    4) You got some issues. Seriously. If some stranger on the internet rustles your jimmies enough to make you resort to trying to make a bet with them via an online gaming forum and offer buying them a prostitute if they are correct. All because they hurt your ego and feelings because they didn't agree with you?.. Well jeez man. It wasn't until I realized how unstable you are that I'm starting to feel bad. Here I'll tell you what, I agree with your theory wholeheartedly and I'm sure that it'll be how the game ends. You changed my mind! Does that make you feel better? Does sarcasm translate through text on a screen?

Yes I am. To tell you the truth, it's been a while since I've read those issues, so I cannot really give you a well-though, concrete and satisfying answer (my memory is probably much worse than yours), other than that's what he struck me to be like when I was reading the comic.

I do remember though that on one or even several occasions the character-who-shall-not-be-named was trying to convince Swineheart that he was getting worse, but he didn't believe him, claiming that he's the best surgeon there is and that operation was completely successful, which if you recall wasn't the case. One thread of that poisonous cloak was still in his body.

I've managed to get to issue #140 and will probably wait until the end of the series in issue #150 (which will, if I'm not mistaken, come out in the early 2015) before I continue reading the "Fables". That is, if I live long enough.

  • I totally agree, reading all these theories are making an otherwise way too confusing story all the more intriguing!

Don't take me wrong, guys. The game is amazing but it leaves too many questions and explains too little. After the last episode I felt like I needed to look for some answers, and now I wish I had joined the community sooner. At first I was afraid that I would spoil my whole damn experience, but even the richest theories around have a lot of uncertainty and room for alternate possibilities.

This thread might really have gotten closer than any other so far, but it won't be any less surprising if some of these theories turn out to have been right. Good work, guys! Way to make the damn wait worth it!

  • My theory's along the same lines as the OP with Faith alive and well, but I don't think Swineheart is as involved as OP says...simply because he hasn't had enough character development to make him interesting enough to be a crucial piece of the puzzle. Rather I still think it's the Donkeyskin coat that's keeping Faith hidden, given that it's what hides her from her father in her story, and so must have some magical power. It's getting way more appearances than is required for just a piece of Faith's backstory - we see it at Toad's apartment (with the letter for misdirection) and again at the pawn shop, for no real reason. As for how she can use it when Toad has it - maybe it works by hiding her inside the coat? Would be a neat twist for her to be under our noses all along.

As for motive - I reckon Faith and Nerissa (and maybe Vivian) are trying to catch Bigby's attention so he can end Crooked Man's hold over Fabletown and free themselves from his grasp. They faked Faith's death using the coat, but then Lily was killed for real, maybe by accident by Crane removing the ribbon, or by the Crooked Man as retribution for Faith's escape (somehow he knows she isn't dead, possibly because the ribbon should disappear on use as it does with Lily).

I have some more ideas as to why the girls are behind Faith's 'death' - are external links kosher? http://steamcommunity.com/app/250320/discussions/0/540744934193957045/
If not I can post some of my theories here directly, though warning - there's quite a bit.

  • Beauty or a Beast could be doing it to lead Bigby to the Crooked Man and end their financial problems. Hence, they asked Bigby to kill the Crooked man,

But who would murder 2 fables just to lead Bigby to the Crooked man? It could be that someone took their deaths as an opportunity, but who?

  • The biggest thing that leads people to believe she is still alive is the scene with the magic mirror. When you asked about faith's father it shows his corpse still in the homelands. This means that no matter where her corpse is the mirror should be able to show it. Now you ask about faiths body, which you should already know where her head is, the mirror can't show it. He utters the same words these lips are sealed. Now if she were dead why would the magic that binds them to secret still affect a dead body , let alone a body that you have the head to?We know the glamour tubs the crooked man uses dont lose their effect till you open the tubs. Now there are a few plot points to consider about this. One if she is still alive why would the crooked man keep her that way? Two why did they take her severed head to the woodland?( some people think as a message to crane but thats what hollys body was use for) and three why would the ring be there to help them identified the body?
