If you have the money spare then definitely. Its a great game with a well written story and great characters. You play as the Sheriff of the fictional Fabletown and your job is to find out who is responsible for murders that have occurred.

  • Not what I meant. Money is there.

However, What's the main idea? The Walking Dead's main idea is Zombies, Sci-Fi and very well-escalated characters development and events.

    What is TWAU's main idea?

Fairy Tale characters being exiled from their Homelands to live out lives in New York City under a broken system. Bigby Wolf is the sheriff, who's main job is to keep the peace. One day a Fable is murdered and Bigby must find the killer. As this happens all the citizens become fed up with this system and continuously argue and bicker amongst each other.

It's also about character development, people won't die as much, but there are still gut punches and well written characters.

    It's worth it, trust me.

  • As i feared. I'm not such big fan of fairytales. But investigating, Count me in!

One thing I should mention is that the music is just the best.

  • Wow, Amazing. Will probably get it after the whole season is released. Hope that fairytale characters don't bug me though.

  • Was in the same EXACT boat as you a week ago. Loved the Walking Dead, didn't think too much of TWAU but I thought why not. It's pretty cheap compared to other games and it got good reviews.

Conclusion: I wanted to prolong the experience as long as I could but it was too addicting. Went through 4 episodes in 5 days. To be honest, I would say it is right up there with The Walking Dead. Maybe it might be because it is more recent in my mind, but I would even say that it might be better.

You'll like it. Money back guaranteed.*

    • not really
  • I had similar concerns when I heard about the game. Didn't want anything to do with it until I got really bored and watched a playthrough of episode 1 on youtube. I would suggest watching someone play through the opening scene(before the credits) to introduce yourself.

Aw man! You missed it! It was less than $10 on Steam on Monday. Keep checking the Steam summer sale this week, sometimes the sales come back around.

  • If you want to get more information, you can try the Wiki page, careful of spoilers for the comic though. Also, dont be put off by the fact that they're fairytale characters. They act like regular people. That's what makes the story so interesting. As long as talking animals doesnt bother you, you'll be okay lol

  • I'd like to avoid spoilers. Tell me, What happened to your fairytales concerns?

  • I see. May i ask you something, You like Fantasy as a genre or not?

  • Fantasy is the contrary of Science-Fiction to me. You can't be a fan of fantasy while you're a massive Sci-Fi geek.

Will probably avoid the wiki. In order to avoid spoilers.

  • When we say fairytales, do you think of like fairys or stupid girly 10 year old stuff? If you think so, then you're wayyy wrong.

I mean we get fables from a kid story, but some are portrayed bad ass and mean, annoying ass holes. I totally recommend this.

I was like iffy about this too but I'm glad I got this, it's not as hyped as twd but it's really great. Some people even prefer this than twd.

I'd like to avoid spoilers. Tell me, What happened to your fairytales concerns?

  • There's no magic going on and you for sure don't have to know about the fables, but 90% of the fables are glamored as mundies (Humans) so you wont know who they are, unless they tell you their name and when you see their true form. But ya get this game asap it's bloody and suspenseful.

  • Getting it wrong, AGAIN. I hate Skyrim and Dragon Age because they're the genre defining fantasy to me. So, I have to be careful regarding any fantasy title as I had a shitload of bad games lately Before i had the chance to play The Walking Dead.

    Thanks.

Well, if you don't like fantasy, as you state below, you won't like Fables or Wolf Among Us.

The fantasy is far from stereotypical, but there are trolls and witches and magic. Sir Lancelot is a character in the comics. In the game you have Snow White, the Big Bad Wolf, and a whole bunch of other fantasy type characters.

Granted Fables is for fantasy what Firefly is for science fiction, but it's still fantasy.

Let's first decide will i get it or not. :P

This is strange to me. I am a fan of both science fiction and fantasy. These aren't mutually exclusive subjects of interests.

I think you meant you personally don't have a taste for fantasy, which I can understand. I have a friend with a similar opinion.

I myself don't really seeThe Walking Dead as science fiction. Yeah it's post apocalyptic, which tends to fall under the sci-fi family of speculative fiction, but I think of zombies as a fantastical thing, even if they're given science-y origins.

Fables is more urban fantasy than medieval/high/tolkien fantasy. Maybe the distinction matters?

  • Yes, it's personally only.

The zombie virus is Sci-Fi, Whatever the way you handle it. That's why I'm hoping to see more science in TWDG S3. If there'll be one.

Yes, it matters. that's why i came here to see what do you guys think. If i had already made up my mind of it as hardcore fantasy, I wouldn't have created this thread.

Try it, you will love it. I also recommend you try the comics, they are quite interesting.

  • The Wolf Among Us is a detective story with fantastical elements and characters. I'd liken it to Angel, the tv show. Or The Dresden Files.
