Walking Dead S2 E1 freezing issue

Whenever I get past the screen where I distract the scavengers in the woods, the game freezes while loading the next scene. I have tried restarting the xbox several times, and have re-downloaded the game to make sure it wasn't a download issue. Is there some way i can fix this?

  • To clarify, it is at the beginning of chapter 3 of episode 1 that the game freezes.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please try Clearing your System's Cache, restart the game, and start the episode again and see if your issue is resolved.

  • I'm having this same problem in Episode 4. It started right when I got to the beginning of the chapter called "Labor". However, even when I rewind it to the previous chapter now, it locks up there as well. I tried clearing my Xbox system cache but that didn't help.

  • Now this morning I tried again by restarting the whole episode and it locked up when I got to the "The Walking Dead" title screen after the recap. Looks like my entire save file is ruined. Fortunately I just happened to have made a copy of it before I started episode 4, but this is a pretty ugly bug.

Ok, deleting my save file, copying my backup, and started Episode 4 over didn't work either. This is really starting to ruin my perception of this game :-\ So as far as I can tell, the game is now completely unplayable for me.

I'm all the time talking to people about how awesome Telltale is... now I've got to add in this little footnote.

I apologize for the inconvenience, can you please clarify if you waited on the frozen screen for a few minutes to see if the game starts responding again?

My apologies, can you please clarify how your storage device is currently set up? Are you saving to an internal storage device, or possibly and external hard drive, or flash drive?

  • Sure. Normally I use the Cloud Storage, however in this instance I am using the internal storage for the Xbox 360.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. You mentioned you placed your backed up save back onto your storage device, and it does not work. Can you please clarify if you remove your save files completely, that you are able to start playing any episodes?

  • I was able to go back and play episode 3 no problem. Then when it started into Episode 4, it froze right after the "The Walking Dead" title screen.

My apologies, have you tried deleting and re-downloading just the Episode from your storage device? Here's how to delete a particular episode from your Xbox 360:

    • Hit the Xbox Guide Button in the Middle of your Controller
    • Go as far to the right as you can on the Dashboard
    • Scroll down and click on System Settings
    • Scroll down and click on Storage
    • Click your HardDrive/Memory Card/Storage Device (Wherever the DLC/Episode is Saved on)
    • Click on Games and Apps
    • Scroll down and find the game you want to delete the DLC for and click on the game
    • A list of all your saves, DLC, etc will show up, find the DLC/Episode you want to delete and select it
    • Now scroll down and click Delete

    To Re-Download an Episode:

    • Open to the Game Marketplace
    • Go the game you want to re-download the DLC for
    • Click Download Again for the DLC/Episode (The Episode should say ‘Free’ next to it)

Can you please clarify which model Xbox 360 you are currently using, how big the hard drive is, and if you are playing the digital, or disc version of the game?
