A job in the gaming industry as a writer.

I got a question to people who understand in this kind of things, as the title says, i want to know a few things about becoming a writer in the game industry.

I become 20 a few Month ago, and writing is in matter of fact, the best thing i can do, i am writing books (for me, i guess), and its something that i really like doing. every day, every night.

So, my question is, if there is an option to become a writer in some gaming company from home.

Just an innocent question, Out of curiosity. Thanks. Oh and by the way, Telltale games - i just love you guys.

  • Well I know of a company that pays you to create TellTale like storylines. If you google Choice of Games it should come up (sorry cant do a link), they arent gameplay games more like reading but it could be a great place to start.

  • First of all, thank you for the reply.

Its nice, thank you. Still, i want "Real" games, that actually got gameplay to the story.

Still they pay around 500-2000 dollars its good place to get a good amount of money to maybe make a demo or real game to use during interviews, I would recommend checking them out atleast.

  • Ya got me. I have no clue. But I'm sure you'll find a place sometime. I'm into aeronautical engineering.

  • Huh, I'm almost considering doing something on this site. I'm really into film and storytelling, but since I don't really have any film equipment, this would probably be the next best thing.

  • The hard part here is the "from home." If you're not an established writer, no one's going to know if they can trust you to write a good story. They might give you more of a chance if they can see you in person. That also allows you to bounce ideas off other writers and double-check with the development team to make sure they're doable. ("Hey, our rendering software isn't going to have a problem with a giant using our hero to spread peanut butter on a pizza, will it?")

You can go it alone, of course, but then you have a lot more responsibilities besides just the writing part. Otherwise, you'll have to sell a company on what you can do for them, or compromise and do something less than ideal until you can reach your ultimate goal.

    Good luck!

  • This is my dream job.

  • Thank you all for the comments.
Golden paladin - i'll check the website - thank you.

if there's any other option i will be glad to check it.
