Realtime projected shadows broken on iPhone 6

I'm playing the latest version on an iPhone 6, and projected shadows are broken in a stripey way that seems to be related to depth:

On an iPad mini retina, the shadows are correct.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please close the game and all other applications running in the background. This should free up necessary system resources. (To close an app running in the background on iOS 6 and before: double tap the home button to make all running apps appear at the bottom of the screen, hold down on an app you wish to close and red buttons will appear, tap the red buttons to close the apps. If on iOS 7, double tap the home button and swipe up on the open apps to close them) Also, please turn off your iOS device for at least three minutes before attempting to play the game again. This will allow the device’s cache to clear.

Then after restarting your device, please reset the WiFi by turning the WiFi Settings Off, and back On again. Then try starting the game application again, and see if the shadows show up properly in-game.

  • It's not really inconvenient, but it looks ugly and unintentional. As a game developer myself, the steps you listed sound fairly generic and unrelated to the sorts of things that might cause this issue. Are you sure the game has been tested on iPhone 6 and the shadows definitely work?

We have not heard of this particular issue before. Can you please clarify if it looks like this throughout the episode, or it only happens in certain scenes? Also, can you please clarify which iOS version your iPhone 6 is currently running?

  • It happens everywhere I can see realtime shadows (not baked or dot/lambert ones), in all scenes and episodes. I'm running iOS 8.1 but it was happening on 8.0.2 as well. I hadn't installed TWAU when I had 8.0. So to be clear, I've never not seen this problem on this iphone. I can't think of any more variables. Would you like more screen shots?

  • I'm having the exact same issue on my iPhone 6. Also running iOS8.1. Will try the suggested fix above

  • Update: Did not fix

  • I have this issue as well. It happens on iOS 8.0, 8.0.2, 8.1 and currently 8.1.1. It has been an issue since iPhone 6 launch day. I have been putting off playing the game until it is fixed.

Can you please clarify if you have tried deleting the game application, and re-downloading it using a different WiFi network, to see if it may be a connection issue giving you an incomplete/corrupted download file? If not, I recommend trying this, and see if the issue is then resolved.

I have the same ugly broken shadows as generalleoff picture 2, with iPhone 6plus on iOS 8.1. Its a bug in the game and not from broken downloads or low ram and such things as you suggest. Take this serious please and stop suggesting nonsense fixes. IT does ruin the game we paid money to play, i will not buy more episodes before you get this right.

  • I'd like to know if anyone (especially Telltale Mike) has an iPhone 6, regular or Plus, running any version of iOS, that doesn't exhibit this issue.

I apologize for the delayed response. I have passed this information along to the team for further investigation.

  • The glitch is still present, do you have some news ? I'm pissed to wait for a fix for monthes, and I don't want to play the game with these horibles bugs.

Unfortunately we have not announced plans to update the game at this time. I will make sure to pass along your information. Can you please clarify which device in particular you are experiencing the issue you are on, and what OS version you are currently updated to?

I downloaded the first episode on a brand new iPad Air 2 running iOS 8.3. I've tried re-downloading it multiple times and the issue persists.

  • This bug is known for monthes now, and happen on all iPhone 6/6 plus and iPad Air 2 but the developpers just ignore us... This is the third thread created about this projected shadows glitch... Maybe it's time to ask for a refund or to spam the telltale game twitter and Facebook account to be considered.
