Where are the save files stored? I'd like to uninstall and reinstall the game without having to start over.

I can't answer your initial question, but I can confirm for you that uninstalling and reinstalling will not affect your save files. I've done so myself.
That said, I still can't play Episode 2, and am having issues of my own. But save data is not one of them.
