For those who don't like the graphic style, episodic, controls - good news...

I agree with all that, but I'd argue that the pacing was off, too. Bill Tiller is undoubtedly a brilliant artist, but it takes more than great art skills to create a quality adventure games and I'm not sure that he - or his team - are well rounded enough yet.
I agree, totally. I thought "A Vampyre Story" {SIC} was a poor adventure game, at best. It speaks greatly of the jaded "adventure fanatics" and what they are willing to call a "good game," in the face of pure logic.

I cannot see this new game as anything more than a lark, devoted more to the fanatics of Tiller rather than cogent adventure-gamer. In short, the game needs to be of ADVENTURE GAME length, not the sloppy 2-hours, but a full 20 hours, for the price of $30 (USD)

I will, perhaps, pirate Tiller's newest tripe, but even then, I will probably feel jilted by his offering. Tiller is an exceptional artist but his games (like FULLTHROTTLE) are remarkable short and we all know that it takes more than good graphics to produce a viable adventure. It takes writing, solid and challenging puzzle-structure, and good graphics. Tiller is only adept in one of those categories.

Ooh, this is looking rather interesting.

that looks quite interesting, it's the first time i hear about it, they should do better marketing. Anyway, im definitely keeping an eye on this

This game looks like Monkey Island should look, lush and beautiful, not bland and plastic.

Telltale had better change the art direction for the later chapters if they want me to stick around. I'll be buying the first chapter but if i find it as jarring as the screenshots I'll just wait for Ghost Pirates, which in my mind is the true sequel to Monkey Island.

    oO

This is a complete different game. No Guybrush, No LeChuck, No MI-story.
I will buy Bill Tillers game for sure, but this is not MI and I'm sure Tiller never wanted this to be MI. It is about cool ghost pirates:)

The controls are just what I thought. Like in SWKOTOR. :)

The game does look beautiful. It just doesn't seem to be original at all.

Actually this was an idea he came up with while working on Monkey Island. It was supposed to be something like Le Chuck, Guybrush and Elaine swapping stories in a bar (or something). But since no one at Lucas Arts was interested in working on a MI game and wouldn't give up the rights to MI he went and created it using different characters.

thx for sharing. i never heard of it before. looks nice..real nice

I am really looking forward to this game and I will try really hard not to let Monkey Island influence my thoughts on it.... If I compare the two too much I feel that Ghost Pirates will be less enjoyable because I doubt its going to be as good.

This *looks* great... I hope it has a good storyline also!

Style over substance like A Vampyre Story? Time will tell I guess. Looks good though.

I loved the artstyle for Curse of Monkey Island, and always hoped another game would follow a cartoonish looking thing. These seem more 3Dish than what Curse had, but still beautiful.

I don't know much about Vampyre Story, beyond some criticisms I saw on this board. But another pirate themed adventure game would be pretty nice.

That's kinda harsh. The visuals of AVS were more impressive than the writing or the puzzle design, but that's not the same as the writing and puzzle design being bad. For me the game was very much in the same vein of an old LEC adventure (I'd probably put it above The Dig if I was ordering them) and I consider it a highly auspicious first release from Autumn Moon. AVS2 can only be better with Ahern helping out with the dialog plus all of the things that the team no doubt learned the first go round.

Teaser site is up.. Its just the logo a new art background and a joke... still cool... I am really looking forward to this.

I was an avid supporter of this even when the first trailer came out and everyone and their mother appeared to find the humor a little... flat. However, when the demo hit the scene I really thought that it's a shame for the art that everything else apparently wasn't up to the same standards. The writing is so long-winded that almost every hint of a punch line making it through is drowned in bucket loads of exposition, so-so voice acting and a lacking sense for timing even text-based LucasArts games never had.

    <flashing>GROG ! GROG! GROG! </flashing> :D

I know it's a bit harsh judging the game like this from this short (and rather puzzling) demo, but then a narrative-driven full-price game ending with a resolution that merely hints at a sequel possibly maybe hopefully released like two years later is a no-go for me from the get-go.

Don't ask me why, but I feel like all the charm I saw in CMI is nowhere to be seen coming through the animation.

Doubt it... im sure if anything he figured it would help out sales on his game... plus I think he has much love for MI.... there is probably a part of him that wishes he could have been involved though.

Woah that was a huge bump.

I'm gonna wait for this game to come out, but I can't find a Vampyre Tale/Story or whatever here. I don't think it's even out in Australia. And there's no online store that has it, it's not on steam or available as a download on his website.

If VOojoo island is like vampyre story, I may be forced to pirate it.

I may be forced to with vampyre, you can't buy it anywhere here. I found it online at ebay etc, but it was $80. And I'm not paying that much for an adventure game lol.

yeah its sad when you can not find lesser known games

Found it available online at Sanity for $59.99, or Dick Smith for $49.00.

I forgot how expensive games are in Oz... I got it at Amazon in the UK for less than 10 quid (about 20 Aussie dollars) :P

Nobody ever forces you to pirate a game. And anyway, you can always buy a download version, for instance in the Adventure Shop.

It makes me sad that someone would pirate an adventure game. The consumer base for these games is comparatively small as it is... if no one buys them, developers won't make them. :(

And pirating them only makes games more expensive in the long run... :(

DTS = Dont think so ^^

First: Amazon.de lists it for October 23rd:

    http://www.amazon.de/Ghost-Pirates-of-Vooju-Island/dp/B002IJ4X4U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1255292824&sr=8-1

Second: Publisher himself in the official german forum:

    http://forum.dtp-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?f=200&t=14065

For those who dont speak german dtpChristians says:

no specific date yet, but it will be definitly out this year.

Well, I was wondering since on the official website it still says "2010"...

Woah Vampyre story is 40 pounds, that's like $90.

I'm hoping Voojoo Island is cheaper, and on steam. Most adventure games aren't worth more than $30 max, TTG are an exception though because it's guaranteed quality.

Normally you're not forced to pirate a game, but when you can't purchase it (eg MI2, DOTT), then pirating is fine. I'm against pirating games off of indy companies though, unless of course I can't buy it from an australian store.

I'm not sure if that would be a good move. I can see dtp rushing Autumn Moon to get it out this year, and that won't do the game much good, I think. The problem with some publishers is that they can't market their way out of a paper bag, so they want to ride someone else's wave of success. But that's not proper marketing.

but AME said earler this year, that Ghost Pirates' development will be finished in autumn 09 and the release in 2k10 is just for publisher reasons. so i think the game itself will be complete (hopefully more complete than AVS). besides an earlier release of Ghost Pirates could mean an earlier release of AVS2.
The most logical reason why AVS2 old publisher crimson cow (who brough AVS to us), left AME was because they couldnt launch AVS2 as planned cause AME had to develop Ghost Pirates for the publisher dtp. So maybe dtp now takes AVS2 and can bring it in spring or early summer 2010.

You see I'm kind of glad how things turned out.
