Mouse problem.

Every time I need to move my mouse it never responds to my movement, thus i cannot advance through the game and I'm stuck right at the start.
I have tried the game in different resolutions and adjusted the graphics and the mouse just doesn't respond.

PS. I can move my mouse on the parts when you have to hold down the mouse buttons and drag, but doesn't work whilst running etc.

  • Hi,

I am having the same issue and it is extremely frustrating. The game isn't recognizing my mouse movement on the scene where i am being strangled. If we can't get this fixed, i'd like my money back. Hopefully you can help because the game looks awesome.

After looking over your support tool files, it appears that you should be able to play the game successfully. Could you please take a video of what you are seeing in-game? We could then identify the issue, and be able to assist you further.

Can you please clarify if the Quick-Time Event has an Arrow pointing in a certain direction? In this case you would need to press the directional key on the keyboard in the direction the arrow is facing. If there is an arrow pointing right, please try either pressing the Right Arrow Key, or the D Key (if you are using the W, A, S, and D Keys to move.)

  • Jake and I seem to have been stuck at the same part. There was an arrow pointing up at the crossbow scene.
I'll try using the directional keys when I have an opportunity to play the game again.

  • I got past the crossbow scene using the directional arrows, but now I can't get it to crawl out from under the cart. It isn't recognizing either the mouse or the directional keys. It makes the game more frustrating than fun, and makes me feel like I was the victim of a purse snatching. Is there a trick I am missing, or did I really just throw away my money?

  • Just figured it out. After the cart crashes down on you, a Q key icon appears. Start tapping the Q key until a green border completes. Then it turns into an E key. Start tapping that one, and you make it out.

After looking over your Support Tool information, it seems that your computer is running below the minimum system requirements to run the game successfully. Where we require a minimum of 512mb of dedicated memory, your computer is currently running at 32mb of dedicated memory. Your computer uses an integrated Intel graphics card, which we do not recommend using for our game, as they tend to run under minimum specs. I recommend either trying to update your current graphics card's drivers to the latest version, and see if you are able to play, or try playing the game on a computer above minimum system requirements if you have the ability to.

You can also try changing the game's resolution and graphics settings to a lower setting, and then continue the episode, and see if your issue is resolved.

  • Can't say I'm very impressed with the "Press the Q button" solution under the cart. No manual, no instructions, no hints? Are we all supposed to be experts on Telltale Games games engine? So far finding this game extremely frustrating and no fun at all. It's a candidate to get binned with the other mistaken purchases from Steam.

  • TelltaleMikeTelltaleMike Former Telltale Staff

A Tutorial message should pop up on the top left of the screen explaining how to complete the particular Quick-Time Event you are currently facing. Can you please clarify if that Tutorial hint did not pop up on-screen for you?

  • I keep getting stuck after clicking the g button under the fire cart. It turns into an e and when I start clicking it, its frozen then goes back to a g and the character dies. What can I do to fix this problem, this game is starting to feel like its money down the drain.

  • Is there a way I can get my money back this is honestly a complete waste of time. I see no tutorial messages or anything, this is incredibly frustrating and I really want my money back!

I, too, find that this is an irritating issue and makes me just not care to play the game. As it appears, it's just not computer-friendly, and I would very much like my money back.

I apologize for the delayed response, we have had an overwhelming amount of support emails since the launch of Tales From The Borderlands and Game of Thrones, and they are working hard to answer every one in the order they are received. If you have not heard back yet, you should be hearing back soon.

If you are completing the arrow Quick-Time event, make sure to look out for any notification icons such as circles on certain characters that you must click on in order to progress further in the sequence.

Can you please clarify if you are currently playing in Windowed Mode, or Full Screen mode? Also, have you set your game's resolution to something different than your monitor's native resolution? If so, does changing the resolution to a lower setting improve your mouse sensitivity?

  • I got the same problem as everyone else. The mouse is extremly delayed and then accelerates too fast, making it impossible to control it.

    Here is my stuff: https://www.sendspace.com/file/ysmzh8

You are probably going to tell me, that my system isnt good enough, but I don't think, thats the problem as for example The Wolf Among Us runs perfectly. It helps a little bit to lower the resolution, but even in 800x600 there is still a delay. Changing to Windowe Mode doesnt help at all.

Can you please tell us whether there will be a fix for this problem?

A ticket number was initially issued to me on January 24th in regards to this problem (which many people seem to be having). On the 9th, I had yet to receive a response (which appears to be an occurrence with other customers as well). Today is the 12th, and I have still not received a response. I have now sent another email to you people. There is ABSOLUTELY NO excuse for this lack of professionalism! If I do not receive a response to start the process of refunding my money since I can not play this game on my PC, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and any other entity that I deem appropriate.

  • TelltaleMikeTelltaleMike Former Telltale Staff

If you are playing on a secondary display, this issue may occur depending on the resolution you have the game set, and the display's refresh rate connected to your computer. If you are experiencing it as well on your Laptop's screen, have you tried changing the game's resolution to your computer's native resolution (1920 x 1080) and switching the game to Full Screen Mode, and see if your issue is resolved?

Your computer has both an integrated Intel HD Graphics card, and an NVidia card. I recommend first make sure that your NVidia card is enabled when playing the game, and also make sure that you are playing the game in a resolution close to your monitor's native resolution of 1920x1080. You can also try switching between Windowed Mode, and Full Screen Mode in the options menu, as well as changing the graphics settings to a lower setting, and see if that resolves your issue.

This is a pretty dumb issue to have, not gonna lie. Trust me, this is a plain bug in the game, and not an issue with people's systems not having a powerful enough computer, or the sensitivity set too low, or something trivial like this. Adjusting the graphics makes no difference, not with resolution or between Fullscreen or Windowed mode, my computer is more than powerful enough and my sensitivity is not set to anything outrageously high or low.

It plain just stops working near the beginning of the game at the choking scene, my mouse works fine and reacts perfectly up till this point, then does not take the input for the QTE.

  • TelltaleMikeTelltaleMike Former Telltale Staff

Please note that at certain Quick-Time Events (when arrows pointing in certain directions appear on-screen) you will need to use the Arrow Keys/WASD Keys as the directional inputs to complete those particular Quick-Time Events. I recommend trying the scene again, and using the W, A, S, and D Keys as if they were the Arrow Keys, and when an arrow pops up on screen, press the corresponding key in the correct direction.
