How much into the show should i watch to fully understand this game?

So, i've heard that this is a game that you only fully understand if you have watched the series or read the books, so my question is , how much into the series should i watch to completely understand this game, right now i'm at the half of S1, (one of the best series i've ever watched btw), is that enough?

    By what I've seen so far, Season 1-beginning of 4. But even with my lack of knowledge of the series (I've seen most episodes of the first season and some here and there, but overall don't like the series), I understood what was going on.

    I haven't watched the show or read the books at all, but I didn't find the first episode all that difficult to understand. You'll pick up on it as you go.

    Well me personally it doesn't matter anymore. I watched the game play twice and love it. My sister watches the show, but I'm starting to get into it. All you really need to do is study medieval times and the language, and you shouldn't have a problem. Just take notes while playing the game. Just watch the play through and decide if you want it, or you can just watch the show and read the books lol.

    Probably all of it. You definately have to watch up to season 3.

    The start of the game basically ruins the biggest spoiler of Season 3, so at least finish that Season if you care about spoilers.

    Thanks everyboy, i just played the game, i don't really care about spoilers, but how much will i understand the story, plus i actually have the game downloaded and installed and didn't know if i should play it until i have watched the series, but i couldn't resist, i understood must of it, and i'm about to search the little doubts i have on the wiki

    Season 1,&2 will be a good start to understanding it....even just 1....

    Watch all the seasons too fully understand it. If you don't you're sure to get confused.

    If you're ridiculously spoiler adverse, then go up until the end of season 3. There's nothing major to be spoiled from the show but you may wish you'd waited if you view too much of the first episode of the game.
