What I'm Liking So Far

Not just about Game of Thrones, but about Borderlands as well. Seeing that GoT and Tales are the newest round of Telltale series', it makes sense that there's quite a few improvements over TWD2 and WAU. What I'm liking so far and encourage Telltale to keep up:

-Story is more important than length. Game of Thrones took me 2 hours, Borderlands 2 1/2. Both left me satisfied at the end. Wanting more, but very happy with the chunk I had played. Oftentimes throughout TWD2 and WAU I felt like they were just cutting the story off right at the 90 minute mark, leaving many episodes with a bad taste in my mouth. It's not about length as much as it is story, and it looks like Telltale learned that bit of feedback.

-Smoother performance overall, at least on PC. Looks like Telltale did some work on their engine from WAU and TWD2. Not sure about console performance though, so I may be wrong here.

-(?) Will actually remember that. Since we're only 1 episode into each series, I can't exactly comment on how the choices impact the plot overall. But I can definitely say that dialogue seems to acknowledge our choices a whole lot more than TWD2 and WAU did. All too often would we be told that someone would remember something - only for it to never be brought up again. The popup when someone would remember something had lost it's meaning to me. Good to see it's starting to mean more again. Now I really hope we can get some actual meaningful, plot impacting choices in the near future. Let's not have another Nick.

The next think I hope Telltale improves on is their release schedule. The alternating episodes between TWD and WAU was a bit of a mess earlier this year.

I'm hugely looking forward to the next episodes, really enjoying them so far!

  • I REALLY hope they don't go back to the 90 minute episode format. Or worse, to make it like TWAU where the episodes get shorter and shorter until we end up with only a 1 hour long finale...
